Last night, after my daughter had the hiccups for awhile, she exclaimed "If I feel that hiccup one more time, I'm going to go in my tummy and throw it out!" :rotfl:

Last night it had gotten very late for my daughter to go to bed because we were decorating the Christmas tree and the inside of the house for the holidays following a long day of other events. I had commented to my daughter that it was getting very late. At slightly past 11:00 pm, we were about to read her bedtime story when she remarked: "Daddy, hurry, it's 40 o'clock!" :rotfl:

I get a lot of 32 o'clocks and stuff like that too. It is funny.

The other night the wife and I stayed up and wrapped a bunch of presents for the kids and the next morning my daughter comes running into our room all excited saying "Daddy! There are a bunch of more presents under the Christmas tree!" She's 4 and really getting into this whole Christmas thing.

My daughter is 4 as well and this seems to be a really cute age for the holidays. We really enjoyed watching her help decorate the tree with us this year. And, at her recent birthday, this is the first year we got the exclamations with opening presents like "Wow! I always wanted that!" (like she's been in the world long enough for there to be an "always" :D ). So I know Christmas and Hanukkah will be fun with the presents this year too (we celebrate both holidays).

By the way, I don't quite understand. How do you do Christmas in your house with the kid's presents already under the tree? What happens with Santa?

I must be slow on the uptake today because I don’t get the connection between 11:00pm and 40 o’clock.

24, there is no connection. The 11:00 pm was just to show the real time and the fact that it was pretty late for a 4 year old's bed time. My daughter has no clue about how to tell time yet. Thus "40 o'clock".

IE,

That is way too late (40 o'clock) to be allowing your daughter to stay up, even near New Year's Eve.

Ok, I have a cute one - I am just not sure how to tell it so people understand. My 4 year old is learning to recite various prayers with us. Every Friday night we do a blessing over the Sabbath candles, as wll as blessings over wine and over bread.

When Chanukah started my daughter went over to the menorah and started reciting a blessing. She recited the blessing for the wine :rotfl:

IE,

Maybe your daugher was thinking in DS9 (or more properly, DS11 or something similar) time!

Minuet,

Minuet,

I see nothing wrong with the blessing. After all, didn't 'Minuet' and Riker have a few drinks? :rotfl:

my 6 year old daughter asks me a lot of questions about outer space, rocket ships, and the planets. I think that is really cool.

Here is a recent sampling:

Daddy, is the moon in outer space? (she has asked this several times). Yes, it up in outer space.

And people went there on rocket ships and it took 3 days? (we have been over this several times as well)? Yes, people went there in rocket ships.

Daddy, are rocket ships real? (she is always verifying with me which of the stuff that she sees on TV is real and which is just pretend) Yes, don't you remember us watching the space shuttle take off on TV before?

Daddy, do you build rocket ships at work? No (sadly)

Do people really go to outer space? (this is a new question) Yes, there are people in outer space right now.

Can people fly to the sun and land on the sun? No, it is too hot, they would burn up. (she has verified this with me several times, I don't think she believes me.)

I told her that maybe one day she could go into outer space and she got real excited. Oh, and she knows all the planets.

Having kids is cool. B}
