How about a Voyager Movie
|
What does Paramount have on the drawing board? Trek films are a cash cow and guaranteed to make money so there must be something in the works. Problem is there are so many possibilities it is hard to guess which way they will go. 1. More of the TNG cast? what of the Voyager cast? What of the DS9 cast? 2. Enterprise cast and time travel garbage. 3. Bring back Kirk? They will want to make more $$$ by tying in the next feature film with relevant current tv syndication. Which way is next? Admit it, you would love to see Sisko Janeway, Seven, Odo and the rest, but a budget will not allow it so, a film must have a Lead role and supporting cast. Is Datas death really enough to retire the TNG crew? What's next?

Well, Berman has said it is going to be set before Kirk, after Archer and have a completly new cast. Can this guy screw Trek up any more? Why not use one of the 24th century casts? You could do so much with a 24th century cast, ie, Captain Riker, anything from DS9, something to do with Voyager, the possibilities are almost endless. The trouble with Berman is he is trying to make it mainstream, and that isn't what it is about, any Trek movie should have something for the fans, most of us don't want to spend 45 mins of a movie trying to learn the new crew and ship when there are several perfectly good crews out there. |

That would be a financial disaster. We meet new characters at the box office? No way that works out at all. Is that what he actually said somewhere? |

Wait is this new movie going to lead to a series? Or is it going to be a one off? I smell a disaster... |

Think about what you've said there. A movie producer wants to make his movie as mainstream with broad appeal as possible so he can make the most amount of money - shocking!!! Geesh, Riker again  , I dont want to see any of the flippin TNG cast in a movie again, enough already! I'd like to see a DS9 or VOY mini series, but a movie wouldnt make enough money. The latest I've heard is that ST XI is set at the Academy, with a brand new cast, this sounds like a good idea to me, I want something fresh, and it has to appeal to the mainstream so they make a profit |

No, what i mean is, B&B are trying to make Trek appeal to the masses, the same way something like Friends or something similar would, it has never been that way and never will be no matter how hard he tries. There is nothing wrong with trying to get new viewers, i'm all for it, but they way they go about it, i.e sex, violence etc to appeal to the 16 - 25 audience isn't going to work and will turn off many long time viewers. It has already started, i noticed a thread for Storm Front asking weather or not people would watch. It can only get worse if something isn't done. |

What I would like, as unlikely as I know this is, is to see an in-between movie series taking place just after the "death" of Kirk in 2293 aboard the Enterprise B. I think it would make an interesting and more human movie series to have a somewhat flawed crew trying to live up to thier namesake amidst much adversity after the living legend disappearing on thier maiden voyage. It would be a more realistic and different series instead of being a group of living legends, you'll have a crew that is underestimated and even ridiculed by the public, but as they grow, they begin to become legends in thier own right. I don't know if the current writing staff is up to the task though. I think it would be best to hire a professional screenwriter with an affinity for Star Trek but with the fresh perspective this type of point of view would require. Just my two pennies. |

I am not so sure about that. The TOS movies I think were geared toward fans whose age range was much larger. Regardless, we're both speculating, unless you can find some kind of documentation. |

I think the last thing I heard was that the next movie would deal with the Romulan Wars, being set after Archer but prior to Kirk, and NOT dealing with the current Enterprise crew. So who would it be dealing with? Like we're supposed to come into the movie already caring anything about all entirely new people? Actually, I think there's a lot still up in the air about the next movie. |

You don't suppose we might actually meet the Captain that Roddenberry first imagined: Robert April? |

Well I tell you, I for one would be more excited about the next movie if it had a new crew rather than the TNG crew again |

I know it wont happen but I'd like to see a mixture of all the casts (obviously not every member) and tie up loose ends like: -Spock's plan for re-unification of Romulus and Vulcan... -Riker's new ship... -Sisko's "death" as a Prophet... -What happened to the Voyager crew now that they're home... -And the definitive conclusion of the Temporal Cold War and how it made everything that followed possible... It would be asking alot but what a movie it would be!!! (I just wanna see all their ships together ...Ent-nx. Ent-A, Ent-E, Voy, Titan and DS-9...all in battle in the TCW) And unlike many others, I have never had a problem with time-travel episodes. In fact, they've been some of my favorites overall...
