Now, it seems to me that cigarettes wouldn't still be around in the enlightened 23rd century. In fact, I thought that I had remembered it mentioned that this was no longer done. In watching Star Trek 5 on TV this weekend, I noticed for the first time that the human ambassador to Nimbus was smoking a cigarette. I also was reminded of why I just don't like that movie. In the opening seen, Cybok pulls back his hood and reveals his Vulcan ears and the bald dude with bad teeth says "your a vulcan!" and smiles like 8-year-old boy who just farted in church and Cybok just goes into the long hearty laugh. What the heck was so funny? Maybe since he is Vulcan and new to the emotion thing, his sense of humor is not what ours is.And the painful singing of Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Uuuuugggghhhhh. The whole scene aroung the campfire was aweful. The acting was forced and terrible, they were clearly uncomfortable filming this scene. Except for Spock, who you would expect to be uncomfortable in such a surrounding. Anyway, I still watch the movie when I see it on. There are some good parts where Kirk, Spock and McCoy are together (like in the Brig when Scotty busts them out). |

With any luck . by the 23 century, a tobacco desease will have made tobacco a threatened species or extinct , and all smokers will also have the way either through the deceases caused by their filfy habit, or by natural causes . |

38, I hate Final Frontier, the directing, acting, story, dialogue, special effects, and especially the ending were unworthy of the Star Trek franchise. Roddenberry didn't consider it cannon, and neither do I. |

Tobacco will still be around in the 23rd century. I hate it when trek gets all preachy "We've grown beyond the need to aquire wealth" yada yada yada. As for Final Frontier, I dont mind it up until they meet Sybok for the first time ( about the first 30 mins), but then it starts to get ridiculous, Sybok takes over the Enterprise WAY too easily, then it takes them like an hour to get to the centre of the galaxy ?!?! and they all dont get crushed by the gravity. The only scene after this i liked was the "stand....back...STANDBACK!" and "Do ya knot no a gaolbreak when ya see un" scene |

The opening scene before they play the music featured Sybok (sp?) sharing the pain with the bald Nimbus settler dude with the funny looking rifle and laughing like Santa Clause after he drank a gallon of eggnog. It is a Star Trek movie, though. I am not sure how I feel about the Uhura scantily clad dance. I kind of feel like I used to feel when I had to climb the rope in gym class. (borrowed from Wayne's World). |

What do you guys think about the suggested romantic relationship between Scotty and Uhura? |

Not so much hate as don't like FF. That was a good line though. I thought that Kirk was a bit out of character wanting to hug Spock, but the line was funny. The movie did have a few good things in it, but overall it was a turkey. |

38957, I try to focus on those good things. I still think I would like the film more if I weren't such an avid Trek fan.
