Three questions...

Here are three questions that have been bgging me, can anyone help?

1. In some TOS episodes, Uhura is wearing a yellow uniform, why?

2. The first time we meet Sloan in DS9, he is wearing a Starfleet uniform, with a captain rank, but what is the gold bar for below the rank?

3. The Runabout. A runabout is a small starship, not a shuttle, so why does Starfleet (or Sisko) loan them out to his crew for holiday transport?

Can anyone help?

1. Seska changed too. It happens.
2. The gold bar is Starfleet Intelligence.

^^^ The production order and the order the show aired are not the same. That is why everyone's uniform changed so much the first season.

I think a lot of the details about Starfleet had to be worked out the first season of TOS. Similarly, in TNG, Geordi is at the helm and wearing red at first.

Maybe the costume department ran out of uniforms?

3. A shuttle is also a small starship

4. Why bother with a Captains Yacht if your only going to feature it in one or two eps?

Runabouts throw me. For starters DS9 only has 3. Yet whenever someone wants to head off to Risa it's fine to borrow one! Wouldn't this be like an airforce pilot borrowing an F/18 to fly to Tahiti?

^^^

Exactly!

CPA, a shuttle isn't a starship as in the Enterprise is a starship, but a runabout is calssed as a starship as the Enterprise is a starship, if you follow.

Welsby,

1. For the most part, it did have to do with production details needing to be worked out over time. You will hear Spock referred to as a 'Vulcanian' rather than a Vulcan at first, too.

There are more than 3 runabouts. Let's see, Rio Grande, Orinoco, Yangtze Kiang, Rubicon, okay, there's only four I can think of, but there has to be more than that. There's probably several that are never mentioned on the show. I am sure the orignial Enterprise had more than just the Galileo shuttlecraft.
