So far it seems that no one has been able to duplicate Soong's work. Of course where Lore is these days is anybody's guess. I do not wish to see an over use of androids, but think that (considering TOS had a whole world composed of them in "I, Mudd") we'll see more of them eventually.

Gimme a break with Star Wars droids anyhow. With all that technology you'd thing that R2D2 could've programmed to speak something other than beep, whistle, beep, boop. Maybe perhaps, English. But if Chewbacca screaming repetively equates to a language, then beep, whistle, beep, boop does too.
