That DS9 seasons 1-3 were just as good, if not as great as the later seasons. I loved the bajor politics, the bringing in of the maquis, the more talk about the occupation, and the initial contacts with the dominion. All around it was season 2 that DS9 picked up a stride, and season 4 when it became something really special. |

How about a Voyager Movie
|
I am in your camp on this one early on, but now I look forward to owning DS9 and getting to know it. Those Ferengi leading characters are so slimy and whiney I just want to kick their asses! I understand though that folks grew a liking for them because there was a poll not too far back in sistertrek where we asked who is the favorite Ferengi character. I want to see the Kurn and Gowron and Worf episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Apparently we look like this now

I liked Voyager alot, but didnt see much of DS9. I got hooked on DS9 when Spike TV started showing DS9, but they took it away...rat bastards ...The DVDs are a high priority on my list. I voted that I liked both of them.

Well, at least nobody voted that they didn't like either of them. Although if they didn't like them I can't see why they would be on a Star Trek themed message board. |

I don't know, there's still a lot of people who think TNG, DS9 and Voyager are not up to par with TOS. Similarly, TNG is still the most popular series, and I suspect many of those fans are somewhat indifferent to the other two subsequent series because they just don't compare. (Devil's advocate)

I liked both DS9 and VOY. DS9 more so than VOY though. With VOY, I didn't really latch onto the series the first time I watched it. When it went off the air, and into reruns, I watched it again and really found myself getting into the series. |

Is Sisko and I the only two people on this board that loved Seasons 1-3 for DS9. I know they didn't have the dominion, but they still had a ton of political intregue and they brought in the Maquis. I guess I'm just that type of guy who started to like the political themes (Which is ironic since I hate politics of real life) and the fact that this was unique for trek. Pity. |

Yes I mentioned in another thread that I've just finished rewatching IC / DiC, that was a GREAT two parter, but before that I tried to watch 'Distant Voices' again - what a stupid ep that is ( the one where Bashir is in a coma). There are dribbles of excellence in a sea of monotony in the first three seasons. It was very evident when I was watching IC/DiC, when Garak is on screen , I am mesmerized, watching for every nuance, but the main cast is so BLAH, especially Jadzia, O'Brien and Bashir, thats why post Worf DS9 is a whole lot better, more emphasis on great secondary characters, instead of the boring leads |

Boring leads? You mean like Harry Kim? Kes? Neelix? |

Yes, I loved (and do love) the first three seasons of DS9. But it would be pointless to explain why, if there are only three of us here that like the show. |

There are people who like the show, but it just seemed like they like the show for the very reason it's not about, the cool explosions and eye candy. I for one loved the cast, loved the relationships that were built, loved how the characters grew and developed over time, and loved the chemestry they had together. Brooks, Farrel, Visitor, and Meaney were such great actors, and Siddig (Who was annoying in the first) grew so much to become a great actor. CPA, you say that you liked the show because of the secondary cast, but (And no offense) that is a really crappy reason for liking the show. The show was more than explosions, or the secondary cast, it was drama, intrigue, and full of growth for everyone. Besides, the first few seasons set up so much backstory for what was to come, it's hard for me not to like it. |
