I thought since we have a rant thread I'd start a happy thread where we can share good news, thoughts, experiances and so on. Today I am happy because I made a new friend and I got onto the typing course I wanted to.

Congrats I'm happy because the NFL has started, and next sunday I get to finally have a birthday dinner at my favorite resturant along with seeing The Lion King (The Play, not the movie) |

It's a fabulous play - you will love it. Disney may have produced it - but there is nothing Disneyish about this production. It is very much for grownups (although the younger set can enjoy it too!) |

I am happy right now because I no longer have the added stress of trying to fix my computer. I just dumped the tower off an hour ago at CompUSA. Let them figure out how to fix the darn computer!! In addition, they charge a flat fee (parts not included of course) for their services, so if it takes them hours/days/weeks/months to figure out the problem it won't cost me an extra cent.

^^^ I'm happy because my daughter pronounced her own name correctly for the first time over the weekend. Previously, she had been substituting a "D" for an "L" in her name, but she began using the proper "L" this weekend.

^^^ IE, Have you ever noticed when your child pronounces something wrong, and then you try to be cutesy by repeating it that way, that s/he then seems to get it right? That's been the case with our youngest child recently. Now she says the darn words correctly--it's as if she knows she's being scrutinized.

^^^ That has happened on some occasions, but on other occasions my daughter has become offended when I mispronounced words the way she did. So I walk on eggshells with that "technique" now. (That translates to I avoid it. )

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.

My 3.5 year old has become quite talented at giving that pathetic 'I am totally destroyed and hurt by your caluous insensitivity' look here recently. It's like I just ruined her whole life, just because I don't want her to interrupt whilst Mommy and Daddy are argui... er um talking. |

^^^ I know how that goes as well. We have strict rules for that in our home. If a child wants to talk to one of us while we are speaking, they come up to us, and put their hand on our arm. That way, we know they want to talk to us, and they haven't spoken a word. Of course, it needs to be developed a bit more with the younger ones.
