In his regular press conference the Prime Minister made a number of important points about Iraq, WMD and in particular the hand over of power.

- He said "we will stay until we get the job done" yet he also admited that "the people who will decide whether the troops stay or not will be the Iraqi government"

- He said that after June 30th there would be a "full transfer of sovereignty" and that "final political control" will rest with the Iraq Government - including over military actions - although coalition troops could not be forced to take actions they do not wish to.

- Asked about WMD he said "I personally believe the intelligence we received was accurate. The conundrum of what has happened will be something that is resolved in due course."

The reason I think this is important is that is answers several key questions. From what he has said the 30th June handover will be a full handover of sovereignty not partial. With that it seems as if the new Iraq Government will have a veto over the operations conducted by coalition forces in Iraq. For example they could veto some of the more heavy handed tactics being employed by US forces that have already been condemned by many senior Iraq politicians.
