what it also says is that he's got no right to speak on waffling. My point is that both he and kerry may not have too much moral fiber, but you have too look at the issues.

But he hasn’t waffled, the situation was trust upon him. 9/11 changed things, we aren’t living in the same world we where when he made that comment. It took 9/11 to make him change his mind, it takes Kerry the wanting to with the presidential election to change his mind, the two do not equate.

:rotfl: :loling: :rotfl: Maybe it's a metaphore for his administration.

I hope it knocked some sense into him - but doubt it - he'd have had to have landed on his head for that. :loling: :rotfl: :loling:

Is there a comic of the incident ? I'd love to see it - it would be a hoot.

I agree Kerry's comment was inappropriate.

Somerled, you're equally inappropriate and you really should feel embarrassed with yourself.

What - you don't sometimes have at laugh when people have a minor mishap and don't really hirt themselves ?

As to Kerry's comments :
Quote:

Kerry pokes fun at Bush mishap

From combined dispatches
Democrat John Kerry joked about President Bush's weekend bicycle accident by comparing the president to a child, Internet newshound Matt Drudge reported yesterday.

"Kerry told reporters in front of cameras, 'Did the training wheels fall off?' " Mr. Drudge reported on his Web site, www.drudgereport.com.
Interviewed by The Washington Times yesterday, Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter would say only that the words Mr. Drudge reported were "off the record."
Mr. Drudge said the debate among reporters over the on-camera "training wheels" remark has been "whether to treat it as on or off the record."
In comments reported by the Associated Press, Mr. Kerry said, "I hope he's OK. I didn't know the president rode a bike."
Mr. Bush, who is widely ridiculed by liberals and Democrats as dumb and incompetent, suffered "minor abrasions and scratches" in the accident, which came near the end of a 17-mile mountain bike ride on his Texas ranch Saturday.
Mr. Kerry had his own bicycling mishap earlier this month, taking a spill while riding with Secret Service agents through Concord, Mass. Mr. Kerry fell when his bike hit a patch of sand. He was not injured

I don't see what is so offensive about it. You lot are much too easily offended.

Bush is a politican and as such he is fair game for this kind of thing - especially if keeps on cocking things up.

Then leave the snide remarks to the late night comedians and such. I really don't care if everyone here make fun of President Bush falling off his bike. The point is that in Kerry's case he should have taken the higher road instead of a cheap shot...

Here's where Kerry made the comment, and includes the one that AP reported.

http://washingtontimes.com/national/200405...12924-2653r.htm

The article is titled, Kerry pokes fun at Bush mishap

Sidenote to Cptjeff: Huh? I have no idea what you said.

Probably referring to Clymer of the New York Times. Probably.....

Ah comeon Somerled, give the man a break, he did take an awful tumble. Did you see his picture? Unfortunately, I think his head got the brunt of the fall. Pretty scratched up there.

Indeed! :frust: ;)

We are awfully sensitive to our fearless leader falling off a mountain bike. No, no, doesn't look good. How on earth do these things get to the media? But then again, it would have been hard to explain the scratches on his face if he were to appear on nationwide TV tonight so maybe a good offense is the best defense.

But I'm used to these things happening so it doesn't phase me anymore. In fact, I kind of expect them to happen.

I'm sorry the president hurt himself and I demand John Kerry apologizes for his crude remarks. How insensitive! Let's hope the president can steer the country better than he can steer a bike.

I'm anxiously waiting to hear his speech tonight and the next couple of weeks. I forsee approval ratings shooting through the roof!

Apparently your definition of "minor" and mine aren't the same. If it's severe enough to get scraped up, then I don't call that minor and no I certainly don't laugh - ever.

Then, sigh  , I guess I'll have to point it out to you. This thread was started to mention the inappropriateness of Kerry's comment about the President's fall - and it WAS inappropriate. Not only did you not recognize that it was inappropriate, but you ADDED your own inappropriate remarks.

And don't act like you're surprised that anyone was offended by your comments - that WAS your intention now wasn't it...

If Intrepid2002 could actually defend the comment, I think the defense would have already been given.

I am confused too. I just went through this entire thread and nowhere do I find the comment (made by Intrepid) you quoted Dante. Perhaps you replied when she was in the middle of an edit?
