Minuet :

You are trolling.

You comment without adding anything worthwhile or even trying to contribute to the discussions.
Isn't that something that is unworthy of one of the monitors of this chat-room.

And your constantly stalking me personally an indication that you have some very serious personal issues. Don't you have better things to with your time than harassing me ?

This place is looking more and more like STARTREK.COM.

Somerled, what the heck are you talking about?

I went back and read this whole thread after reading your comment and I still have no idea what you are talking about. Minuet did not even respond to you - she responded to Doctortobe.

As to "stalking me personally" - are you kidding?

JUST LIKE YOU and every other poster on this board, Minuet has the right to post in any thread that she chooses. Accusations of "stalking" for posting a comment, especially one NOT directed at you, is unwarranted.

BTW, when were you on StarTrek.com?

Ianinoz

Actually, I think he just put his foot in it.

If he wants to disprove he is NOZ, he can just give us the handle he used at Spamtrek, then we can go back and check, unless of course ianinoz was his handle.......hmmmm.............

There is some talk that Australian Olympic Atheletes will be flown home almost immediately after they compete in their personal last event  -  for safety / security reasons.

Reported a few days ago , but I can't recall where.

OK - I'm a terrible typist  - so sue me !

That was Somerleds EDITED post.

And my post later making light of what was origianlly in there.

Well hopefully they wont be frowning on the way home, cos of all the medals they will be bringing with them ;)

Somerled, it wasnt paying you out for the typo ( myself and others are far more guilty of that) - which is why there was a ;) in there.

You just gave me an image of the aussie athletes frowning all the way home on the plane, it was just funny cos the typo changed the whole meaning of the post.

Why did u feel the need to go back and edit the original post?!?!?, we know you arent perfect, none of us are ( although I'm pretty close ;) )

NOTE the ;) , that means I was joking

Seems they just want people to acknowledge the spirit of cooperation and respect given the political tensions lately.  I don't think this is anything to get alarmed about.  But, I am sure many will.

Some of the things that should not be done are "High fives", and "pumping fists". How does a high five not acknowledge the spirit of cooperation and respect?

Thanks Wichita.

Just to clarify for those who are too dense to see, I was only laughing at Doctortobe's joke about the Chinese athletes swimming home. I thought it was amusing. Somerled's comments were only quoted because they put in context the reason Doctortobe posted the joke.

Yes, ST.com has [strike]ianinoz[/strike] somerled too.

Wait, ianinoz is not here and somerled is not there...
and somerled is not ianinoz...
and somerled doesn't go to ST.com...

Your post in the context of your past posts doesn't make sense.

Dan, I agree, high fives and fist pumping isn't what I would consider to be disrespectful, but the chanting was a little too much last time. (IMHO)

I also agree. But then again we are from the U.S. Different cultures have different views and some may see even these as offensive. I'm not saying I agree with the idea of disallowing these (I don't agree about banning high fives and fist pumping in particular - they need to accept our culture too to a degree), but I do think that has a lot to do with why questions are being raised during this time of war and anti-American sentiment even about these seemingly minor actions.

I also think it is right to recognize that these are not typical times and that, knowing people were offended at the 2002 olympics, we might want to take extra care not to offend this time. Should this be necessary? No. But the reality is, people will get offended since they did before (and I think justifiably) and we already have enough problems with rising anti-American sentiment. So why fuel the fire unnecessarily? I believe that's the point being made.

But that’s my point exactly, why are we expected to tolerate the cultures of others, but they are not expected to tolerate ours? I know you mention this but I want to know why it is. It just seems a little unfair to me. Why is the US held to much titer degree on things then other countries?

Because we're top dog right now and some other countries don't think that's fair.

You've probably hit it on the head. But, there is no such thing as a 'fairness doctrine.' I've never understood why people think life ought to be fair....

Life ought to be fair -- it might not be and we need to accept that, but it ought to be and we should try to make it so.

Dandandat,

Perhaps. I don't think, for example, that because someone has a million dollars, that I too ought to have a million dollars. But perhaps you're not speaking of money?
