Admiral, they show the part about them running a background check, and it's well documented that the Bush family has had close business ties to Saudi Arabia and specifically the Bin Laden family for years.

Actually, the Bin Laden family isnt all bad. In fact, Osama's father's company is bidding to build the largest building in the world...Ironic, huh?...I still wouldnt hire them though.

Ironic

I saw it on the news the other day, but this link says pretty much what they said on the news.

Andrew Wheat is research director of Austin-based Texans for Public Justice, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that follows money in Texas politics

:rotfl: :rotfl:

Let me AUGMENT this. I mean real news sources. How about the leftist New York Times? How about the leftist LA Times? Leftist CNN? C'mon.

What do you mean Admiral? These are from legitimate news sources. I even got a conservative viewpoint for you!

8247, I never said the whole Bin Laden family is evil, just that they have business ties to the Bush family, and I for one would like to know exactly what. That's what Farenheit 9/11 is about. It would probably be better for us to talk about this once the movie is released. Right now, we'd just go around and around about whose source is better. (I know it never happened before ;) just thought I'd nip it in the bud before that happened.)

Try again. I mean REAL news sources. No, you didn't get even a moderate viewpoint in there.

Ooops!! Too late!! :loling: :rotfl: :loling: :rotfl:

Admiral, read more than just the first link. Bowling for Truth .com is attemting to debunk Moore's questions in this book Dude, Where's my Country?

Like I said, there's little in the mainstream media about this, that's why Moore is doing a documentary on it. Let's just wait for that to be released before we debate any further okay?

Personal Musing

If absolutely everything Moore says about the Bush family in the movie is 110% true,

so what?

You guys crack me up. An Oscar award winning documentary that made millions and millions of dollars, and noboady cares about it? Moore's books are frequently bestsellers and they guy has had multiple TV shows. If there wasn't a market for his opinion pieces, why would anyone publish his stuff? Yes, I said opinion pieces. I admit that he goes too far at times, and much of his work is his opinion, however it is based on fact. I wouldn't say nobody cares what Rush Limbaugh says, because obviously people do. He sells tons of books and thousands, maybe millions listen to his radio show. Much of that is largely his opinion too, however it is based on fact.
Obviously somebody's threatened by his work after deciding to pull a deal they already made. It was clear what the piece would be, and since Miramax decided to fund it to begin with, it's pretty chicken sh!t in my opinion to suddenly decide that they don't want to publish it now.

8247, I recall people cheering at the awards as well. Again, why are you threatened by the Oscars? Who gives a damn? Millions of people watch it every year. I don't, but lots and lots of people do. Why do you think nobody cares? And yes, if/when Farenheit 9/11 does get released it will make for very informative entertainment, especially since it addresses the close family ties between the Bush family and the Bin Laden family. Something the "liberal media" won't discuss.

I think he is a deliberate malcontent and I don't agree with him.
There's my opinion piece.

I also make the point that if he spoke out against Saddam he would have had"""surgery""" to deform him and the video tape would be used to intimidate other Iraqis. Then again, it seems that is the only thing that keeps the stability intact over there, that is all that keeps order is brutality.

Freedom to disagree is more than a priviledge, it is an inalienable right. Good thing we have that here.

Personal Confusion

What does that have to do with my question?

The Bush Family/Bin Laden Family connection has been published just about everywhere. I first saw in in 2002. If Moore had come up with something new, it would be all over the papers when his film was shown at Cannes.

I still don't see the relevance of a Bush family/Bin Laden Family connection - hence the question "so what".

End of Personal Confusion

To answer your question, who knows? Since the mainstream media has refused to look into this story, we know little about the business relationship between the Bush family and the Bin Ladens. I would be interested to know more, and I'm sure a lot more people would as well. Just because you're not, doesn't mean it's irrelevant. If Clinton had business ties with Bin Laden I'm sure there would be an independent investigation into it as there was with Whitewater which again spent millions of taxpayer money and came up with nothing.

Personal Pique

Since we have now entered the phase where people are quoting statements that I have NEVER made, I will bow out of this conversation.

I see the choices as either National Enquirer journalism or a proposal to adopt the concept of familial guilt. I find the first boring and the second absolutely terrifying - so terrifying that the left's objection to the Patriot Act pales in comparison.

Now there may be some other intrepetation and I did ask. I just didn't get an answer.

I'm sorry, did I quote you? It's hard to misquote someone when you didn't quote them to begin with. As to your question, it was hardly specific. So what? Can be answered any number of ways. As I said before, it's difficult to discuss something that I haven't yet seen. Perhaps we should continue this discussion when Farenheit 9/11 is released.
