How about a Voyager Movie
even Disney won't let Moore get over

When will this chucklehead go away? He wanted to make an anti-President Bush documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11."?
He won an Academy Award for "Bowling for Columbine," an indictment of America's gun culture. What gun culture? Does Moore not see it necessary for us to have the right to bear arms? Parents bear the burden of gun control. It is called responsibility.
Without the freedoms this country offers Mr. Moore would be swept away like the malcontent that he is and never heard from again.

Its simple, Jag...The idiot THINKS that people actually care about what he has to say. He is the typical "Ignore him, and he'll go away" type.

He did good with the "Bowling for Columbine" thing, but after his words at the "WHOGIVESADAM" awards, we saw what the majority of people thought of him. Remember this? "BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" :rotfl:

Just ignore him, and his desperate attempts to top Columbine will make for some GREAT entertainment. :loling:

You guys crack me up. An Oscar award winning documentary that made millions and millions of dollars, and noboady cares about it? Moore's books are frequently bestsellers and they guy has had multiple TV shows. If there wasn't a market for his opinion pieces, why would anyone publish his stuff? Yes, I said opinion pieces. I admit that he goes too far at times, and much of his work is his opinion, however it is based on fact. I wouldn't say nobody cares what Rush Limbaugh says, because obviously people do. He sells tons of books and thousands, maybe millions listen to his radio show. Much of that is largely his opinion too, however it is based on fact.
Obviously somebody's threatened by his work after deciding to pull a deal they already made. It was clear what the piece would be, and since Miramax decided to fund it to begin with, it's pretty chicken sh!t in my opinion to suddenly decide that they don't want to publish it now.

8247, I recall people cheering at the awards as well. Again, why are you threatened by the Oscars? Who gives a damn? Millions of people watch it every year. I don't, but lots and lots of people do. Why do you think nobody cares? And yes, if/when Farenheit 9/11 does get released it will make for very informative entertainment, especially since it addresses the close family ties between the Bush family and the Bin Laden family. Something the "liberal media" won't discuss.

I only said "Who gives a damn" because I honestly couldnt remember which award show it was. The Oscars? The Emmys, The Academy Awards? All they are to me are just ways for stars to thumb their nose at everyone, and say "LOOK AT MEEEEE!" "I'M GREAT!!! LOOK AT MEEEEEEE!" I havent watched one since I was 17. I'm 30 now.

Anyway, why do you think that Moore was chosen to do that? The show's producers KNEW he was going to flap his yap.

As for Farenheit 9/11, its common knowledge that the Reagans backed Al Qaeda when the Russians were in Afghanastan, so of course there's a link. A link that the Clinton admininstration should have done something about when the World Trade Center was first attacked.

8247, I'm with you on that about awards shows. I never watch them. Talk about ego inflation. I mean, all these people do is pretend to be someone else. It's not what I'd call a noble profession.
C'mon did you really think Moore would pass up that kind of opportunity? I am not so happy about what he did, but it wasn't altogether unexpected. Flapping his yap is what he does for a living.

I don't think it's so much the CIA ties to Al Qaeda that's common knowledge but the business relationships between Bushes and Bin Ladens that he's addressing. As a matter of fact, Clinton was more aggressive in tracking Al Qaeda than the Bush administration pre-9/11.

Thanks Wichita. I guess it doesn't surprise me that Moore would do this as a publicity stunt, especially since he had a lot of problems getting distribution for Bowling for Columbine regardless of the fact that it was an Oscar award winner.
Not like this hasn't acutally happened before. Stupid White Men would've been pulped if not for the librarians of America who stand against censorship and was able to pressure his publisher into publishing the book as promised.

Oh, and Shaarek, he's never going away as long as there's millions of peole to buy his books and movies. Included in those freedoms this country provides is freedom of speech, which allows people like him to publish his work regardless of the fact that it criticizes the current administration in power. Only in the USSR and China and similar places are people not allowed to criticize the government.

Someday I'm going to turn the reins over to Minuet or Dante and go a few rounds with people about this obsession. I find it truly frightening.

Maybe when Moore's "documentary" come out.

(Sisko, this post is not directed to you personally. I have already tried to have this discussion at StarTrek.com before and gotten no takers. )

Wichita, I say that you should go for it. You have put enough work into this board, you deserve to have a bit of fun too!

I think most people on this board enjoy hearing your opinions. Your Personal Opinion disclaimer seems to be working just fine. In fact everyone should use it to distinguish opinion from fact.

Millions and millions? Try 22 million, and most of this was from Germany and France.

As I remember, he was roundly booed for his "acceptance speech" at the Oscars back in '03. This from his peers, a bunch of limousine liberals.

If you want to talk about facts in his latest trash, let's look back at that magnum opus of his, Bowling for Columbine. It is amazing what you can do if you edit juuuuust right. For example, he goes into a bank and opens an account, and CLAIMS that he was given a rifle. What actually happened was the bank ran a background check on him before they handed him the rifle, three days later.

Admiral, they show the part about them running a background check, and it's well documented that the Bush family has had close business ties to Saudi Arabia and specifically the Bin Laden family for years.

If I remember correctly, the boo's Moore received at the Oscars in 2003 were not due to his works, but due to his comments about the anticipated Iraq invasion.

They were due to his speech, and that's what I was talking about.
