Maybe I don't. Do you understand New Englanders? |

BTW, would you consider this definition of elitism to be acceptable? e·lit·ism or é·lit·ism 1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources. 2. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class. |

How long did you live there? How old were you when you moved? |

I lived there until I was 17, so that would have been 17 years. I still have family there (Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maine). I visit a few times a year. Let me ask you something, gvok? Why are you so defensive? Do you not think that a man who owns five homes (okay, his wife owns them), married two heiresses, has a private jet, and has hair stylists flown in from LA for a touchup on his 'do before he goes on Meet the Press, is an elitist? One thing I've noticed about you libs is that you seem to be so defensive because you realize that you are stuck with this guy. I guess you missed the humor, too, in the original post. |

I'm not sure where your "defensive" accusation is comming from. I was just asking how long you lived in New England for. You asked me to look up elitist. I did (see above). The definition hinges upon a persons state of mind. It seems to me that you are equating elitism with wealth. But if that is the case (which it isn't) then Bush is just as much of an elitist as Kerry is. Finnally, I am not a liberal. In fact I voted for Bush, and completely supported and defended him during the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions. I do admit that I've become a little disillusioned with him lately. But that does not make me a liberal. Not that there is anything wrong with being a liberal, I just want to state that I do not consider myself to be one. |

You sound awfully accusatory. So why are you disillusioned? Have you been hanging out with The Sisko or are you just watching the lamestream media? We're in the middle of a booming economy, things ARE going better than reported in Iraq, and we haven't been attacked by terrorists. What is to be disillusioned about? |

Sometimes communicating by text can be confusing for the reader. I often notice people misinterpreting the motivations of others. I don't think I accused you of anything. But anyway we were talking about elitism. You said that Kerry is an elitist because he has a butler. I'm not sure if this is true, but if it is, I don't know how that necessarily translates to Kerry beliving that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority. I'm sure Bush has hired help as well. Why do you not say that Bush is an elitist. |

Does having a butler make one an elitist? |

UNGH!

FINALLY Somebody who voted for Bush and has the hutzpah to question the direction this president is taking our country. I knew there were people out there who don't swallow his mantra hook line and sinker. There really is nothing wrong with asking questions.

Time to put something here

True, but there is something wrong with asking questions that you FELL you already know the answer to and when you don’t get that answer you get made, or accuse the answer of lying. Further what is wrong with someone who voted for the president and still thinks he’s a swell guy? Is that not allowed? Or does that mean by default they are brainwashed and yes men? I would chalk that way of thinking up there with saying that all liberals who are opposed to Bush are just still angrier that Gore lost in 2000. |

Thought I might post this link having found this old topic again. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3739515.stm Seems like candidates in the forthcomming elections and bikes just shouldnt mix. Looks like Bush likes to cycle, he was doing a 17 mile trip. What was that about "elitist sport"? It must be, after all you've got a senior Senator and the President both liking to cycle. At least now Kerry and Bush can say they have something in common. |
