Well, it looks like Britain isn't out of this either.  While the Daily Mirror photos may not be valid, Britain has apologized and seems to be acknowledging possible fault in at least 2 cases.

While those Mail photos might well be false your right it certainly looks like British troops have also been involved. It a mess and I'm fed up with it.

Apparently as "guardians" of the Geneva Conventions the Swiss Government has summoned the US and British Ambassadors to explain themselves.

Self evidently the USA would rather no-one actually found out about these abuses.

Apparently we look like this now

The wires were never hooked up, Somerled. That picture was an interrogation technique. How should we extract information? Offer them ice cream???

Really ? Weren't they ? And that is somehow supposed to make it OK ? The victim was hooded and didn't know he / she wasn't plugged in - that in my books is psychological torture and that too is OUTLAWED.

So you support torture ?

Making someone masturbate or hold themselves or lay upon another person, while humiliating, is not torture. In fact, masturbation and other quasi-homosexual acts are a regular occurance in just about every prison on the face of this planet.

So you don't have a problem with that ?
Would you enjoy being made to do these things under the most humiliating circumstances under if you thought you might be beaten to pulp or even killed if you didn't cooperate.
I guess you also think the rape and pack rape of women is OK too ? (This is a parallel experience for these prisoners).

What it all boils down to is that the people interrogating and emprisoning them regarded their prisoners as less than human and they showed a total lack of empathy towards them and no understanding of the traditions of the people in their custody. Disgraceful and the punishments should not stop a few privates , contractors and NCOs.

Self-evidently to whom?

Australian cartoons hardly prove a point about US policy.

Where did THAT come from? US soldiers have not been accused of rape by anyone. (Well except some Arab newspapers who posted pictures from a Hungarian porn site and claimed they were real pictures.)

Besides given that you have repeatedly (and some would say relentlessly) said that there was NO reason to go into Iraq and given that rape and group rape of women was a frequent and well documented torture tactic of that regime, you too could be accused of thinking rape and pack rape of women is OK.

Maybe Somerled is trying to get himself banned by repeated flaming of this site?

So when you respond in your usual manner and when you really get desperate to prove a point but have no real arguments to support your OPINIONS and resort to personal attackes - this not flaming? but when someone disagrees with your views and is sarcastic it is ?

Seems to me you are one those people who like to dish out it out OK (and you do plenty of flaming of your own and I should know as I'm regularly on the recieving end) , but you can't take it in return Bill. Get a grip.

Are you trying to censor and sanitise this site ?

I'm a little tired of hearing about the Iraq Prison torture scandal. Yeah it was wrong, but lets move on. In my opinion, its not really torture. Humilation? Yes! You want to talk about torture, ask John McCain, Adm.Stockdale and the boys from the Hanoi Hilton about torture. They could tell you a little about torture.
