Do you people out there still think I'm wrong when I said there'd be a "Draft Hillary" campaign this summer?

Time to put something here
I shutter to think :banghead: :please: :jawdrop:

But something tells me the Dems plan to lose this one, and have their eyes on 08. That would be a far better time for the witch to win.

I had considered that, but since I doubt Cheney will run in 2008 (he, while a great speaker, is not in the best of health), it would be someone like Condoleezza Rice. Still a tough row to hoe, but who knows? :)

The rumours I hear going around Republican circles (and they were correct about George W. being nominated) is that Jeb Bush is going to be the Rep nominee in 2008. :evil1:
I sure am glad we got our independence from England so we could avoid the pitfalls of dynastic monarchies!

So you are advocating that certain people be prohibited from running for an office that they are constitutionally eligible for because of who they are related to?

Those poor Kennedys!!! What will they do with themselves without politics as an option!!! :o :jawdrop:

Actually, Adrian, I am just kidding. I got your point -- I just don't think what you said came out quite the way that you meant it to. ;)

And if Jeb Bush is the nominee in '08 ... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Um Adrian, do you know people in Republican circles?

I've been heavily involved with the RNC for several years, and no one has given this any consideration (primarily for the dynastic reasons you mentioned).

The biggest names floated have been: Condoleezza Rice, J.C. Watts, Rudy Giuliani, and Colin Powell. McCain might also be interested, but he doesn't garner a lot of support. I don't think that Rudy has a chance because of his marital problems, and Powell is too wishy-washy. The only Republicans who wouldn't like J.C. Watts are the ones he faced on the football field when he led the Oklahoma Sooners to two Big 8 championships. Condi is the current darling of the party.

J.C. Watts--

If I'm thinking of the right person, he is very eloquent in his speech. I will do some digging. :)

I think he's through with politics, but he really is a powerful speaker, and a great quarterback :)

Why :banghead: ?

I would think he's the more knowledgable brother. Secret weapon of the Bush family? Better oratorical skills definitely.

By the way, is that Angus or Jack on your avatar? Nice picture.

Oh, I have nothing against Jeb. I would just like one of the parties to recognize there are more genders than male and more colors than white.

I'd vote for JC Watts or Condi Rice in a heartbeat and would love either to have the chance. There are others in the Democratic Party as well. I just don't think either party has the guts.

(Although Doctortobe may have further information on Watts to share ... )

As to the avatar ...

Absolutely Jack

Bill, I have a friend that works with Rep campaigns out here in California. I haven't talked to him about anybody else.

Okay... I'll buy that. I get all of the memos and use my decoder ring on them. No one has mentioned Jeb...

Which campaigns? I may know him.

Speak softly, and carry a 57 megaton stick!
JC Watts is a pretty good politician. There are no MAJOR scandels involving him. There was something about a shady apartment deal that involved him. Also, I believe that he took some heat about the lucrative trips he took at taxpayer expense. This however is a trait of all Oklahoma politicians (if not politicians worldwide).

The major things that the Democrats have come up against him is that

1. The only reason he is popular with Republicans is because he can be used as a figurehead to make it seem like they accept blacks into their ranks. (i.e. he is a token figurehead)

2. The reason that he did not run for Congress during the last election was because he was losing political favor and not because he wanted to spend more time with his family like he said.

If this is all that they can get against him, then the Democrats are in a lot of trouble indeed if he should decide to run for the Presidency.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing an Oklahoman in the White House. We could finally fulfill our statewide dream of having the Capitol of the US moved to Oklahoma City. ;)
