If I posted an opinion piece, facts that they are opining on are cited from other sources.

No. An opinion is "a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter." Nothing has to do with fact.

The fact that it's an opinion makes little difference.

Ergo, an opinion makes all the difference, because one does not have to be formed from fact.

The discussion I believe here is that facts are required a citation.

Wow, we agree on something, but not the way you think. Opinions are like recta, everyone has them.

You can have a meaningful discussion when you have facts.

"secret memo" from unnamed sources
, not using that old ploy again is he.

Q1) if he is no longer in the military - how did he get to see it ? That's a security breach - a very serious thing in the military.
Q2) if it is such a badly kept secret why hasn't he shared it with us ? otherwize - it simply doesn't count as legitimate proof - in that no one has here has the opportunity to check it out themselves.

Perhaps he is made it up. So fess up or show Sisco and the rest of us the document if it exists.

Try reading the thread, Einstein.

You are so pathetic it is almost a shame to mock you.

Bill, I did, and was following up on sisko's quite valid observation about unnamed secret sources .

The point is that you regularly employ that tact when involved in a discussion (near to your heart) and since no-one else here has access to these particular sources, and it would actually be security breach for you too also (since you are no longer part of that organisation or their chain of command (aside - I can not recall you ever saying what rank you reached (before being pensioned out ?)) and you now have no legal right to access to that kind of information) , then saying secret unnamed sources have told you so and so can not be concidered a legitimate response.

For all we know you could simply have made up a story to suit your personal political leanings.

But I guess the implications of my post above was a bit abstract for a simple not so old salt. OK - since you are also engineer - the analogy is telling your client something you think they need to know or recommending some CAPEX for a process change but not providing (infact refusing to provide) the evidence or backup data necessary to support your decision or proposal . How far do you think that would get you with them ? - you'd be hard pressed to convince them that you are correct and since you are a contractor you'd be looking for a new contract elsewhere shortly there-after.
The same applies here. Using unnamed secret sources is far from convincing and never credible in a discussion.

First of all, the source Sisko mentioned CAME FROM A LINK. The "secret memo" was listed IN THE LINK. It did not come from me. The Sisko knows, but YOU DON'T. What makes it funnier is that Dwayne posted another link to it from a different source.

Some advice: Don't butt in to things in the middle of them. You'll CONTINUE to look foolish.

I just saw this on Drudge (see article below). How likely is this? Does the military keep the volunteers seperate from the non volunteers?

The Draft is sperated to cilvilans and regular Army. One would have U.S. Army the other would have Regular Army. Its like what they did during the Korean war, they drafted cilvian Doctors for a close referance MASH the show would be in more respect. Hawkeye in the show was a draftee and Potter would be regular.
