I actually sat through this interview, they had this on MSNBC, notice when the subject about the war on terror, in one sentence he said it was not a primery objective? then asked another about the war he said it was Primery? So Sisko how is Bush a moron when you haven't even met the guy? You think hes a moron because hes a Rebpublican President and isn't your soft touch Bill Clinton. Why is it every liberal and every Demaract only see and say Bush is stupid, even today at work someone who is a Demaract in American eyes was ranting on how bad Bush is. I asked him then what are you're thoughts on Kerry and he said he knows very little about him. Sisko after reading what you are saying its making me more and more lendeant at voting for Bush.

I wouldn't say he's a moron, but he does like very simple straight forward answers. This has been pointed out by several ex-staffers. When implementing these policies he's been quite politicaly astute. But he does like the bumber sticker answer. Too bad many problem aren't that simple.

May I interject? This was a great week for us here in Pgh. Three of the most polarizing men in politics were visiting my little bankrupt city. No, I did not have the opportunity to shake their hands (couldn't get close enough, my picket signs put me in a "free speech" zone where security felt comfortable :) ) but I did make it a point to "see" them and look for something in them that I don't see on TV. The impression I get is Bush can be a very engaging man. Democrat, Independent or Republican can fall prey to his Texan charm. I swear to you all and I'm a Democrat. I see how you can be his "buddy" which in turn can be a dangerous thing. He seems to do better in informal situations rather than those state of the union shindigs. I never liked the man's politics but I get the impression the man truly believes what he's saying. Yeah, he's rich and probably can't tell a whopper from a big mac but he lets off like he can feel your pain.

Kerry is another rich boy trying to feel our pain. I stood there listening to the man's speech at the Pitt campus and noticed I HAD to "listen" to him word for word. It was taking a concerted effort to listen. I wanted to be swept away in his words and feel a deep passion for what he was saying but he was a little monotone.

Cheney scared the *bleep* out of me. I guess that's why he's the Vice president and not the president. His speech went off without a hitch, no gramatical blurbs or pauses but he was a little too hard core for my comfort. Maybe it was the crowd.

I'm making a sincere effort to vote not based on my emotions this coming November. Bush may not be a moron but sometimes he comes off as one because of his inability to communicate, to present his ideas in a clear, concise and comprehensive way. Let's all admit it and face it, he's NOT an oratory genius, but I don't think he's a moron.

They came and I jumped on an opportunity to see them. I'm glad I did.

Question:

I saw bits of Cheney's speech on C-Span. Is it possible that he was more hardcore because he was speaking to the "party faithful" essentially with the NRA while the others had a more varied crowd?

True True!

When I come to think of it, even the crowd was a little scary. Yes there women there but you could SMELL the testosterone in the room. If I stayed a little longer I might have grown hair on my chest. Chicken that I am, I felt more comfortable with the hippie protesters around the corner one mile away from the center. :wow: It was called the "free speech zone". Gotta love it!

Scary? Did you feel threatened in any way? I've been to NRA get-togethers, and these are the nicest, most family-oriented people I've ever met. I can't see how anyone would feel that they were scary.

Yes, and the same can be said for NRA gatherings. It does a lot to abolish the negative stereotypes. However, I will *not* attend a PETA gathering. ;)

I am wondering if you think there is something wrong with a "free speach zone"? I mean yes under the first amendment you have the right to free speech, but under that same amendment they have a right to free assembly. Your right to free speech does not give you the right to impend on their right to free assembly. So while you are free to say what ever you want, you are not free to disrupt them – hence the "free speech zone".

This little gem was invented by the Clinton Administration to keep Republican hecklers away.

What it boils down to is, while you do have the right to free speech, that does not mean you have the right to be heard by someone who does not want to hear it.

I don’t know about putting it that simplistic. What would stop some one in authority from taking some one they don’t want to hear, throwing them in jail and telling them they can say all they want form in side the cell.

^^ Yeah, it was especially heart warming to hear him mock that woman he was going to execute begging him for her life. What a sweet guy.

Oh, yeah, for those who demand documentation:

Mocks Tucker's plea for clemency to conservative newspaper writer Tucker Carlson who reports it. Bush, Carlson wrote, ridiculed the inmate by affecting a whimpering woman: "Please, don't kill me." (Washington Post, 7/6/00)

Now that's compassionate conservatism for you!

That "woman" was Carla Faye Tucker, who killed people with a PICKAXE.

Now there's compassionate liberalism for you.
