Secret memo? From a variety of unnamed sources? Whatever you say. |

I believe that Zachariah Mussauoi (or however that name is spelled) actually went from Afghanistan (where he was wounded) through Iran, and into Iraq where he underwent surgery. Now, if I were a dictator, don't you think I would want to know who was crossing my borders from the country that I fought a long bloody war with? There was no way that Zach could have just smuggled himself into the country and stayed in a hospital without Saddam's security picking up on it. The less you know as a dictator about what is happening inside your borders, the more chances you have of being killed. |

Actually I did read the whole thing, but given it's source, I doubt it's validity. For the record, I left because you made fun of someone who was upset that children were getting limbs blown off by cluster bombs. I believe your exact words were "Oh, not another 'for the children' speech again." Quite a position you took there. |

Because you don't understand that war is war, and anyone can die. That's why I said, not another "for the children" speech. My position was, and still is, that the safety and security of the United States and its military personnel come FIRST AND FOREMOST. You simply can NOT fight a war if you have to worry about civilian casualties. I know you'll probably retort, "Then why are we there" or something equally stellar, so I'll close with this. We are fighting terrorism in Baghdad and in Kabul, in Fallujah and Basra too, so we don't have to fight terrorism in Boston, Kansas City, Fort Worth, or Baltimore. |

Regardless, your position on that issue illustrates to me exactly the kind of person you are. |

Yes it does. I am someone who wants to protect America first. I see nothing wrong with that. In fact, I am proud of it. |

Exactly, even if it means using weapons that will kill and maim children after the fighting ends. Be proud of that. |

You absolutely, positively, can NOT control every weapon out there. A cluster munition is supposed to explode on impact. If it does not, it is still armed. NOTHING can be done about this. CBUs are a very effective munition for destroying hardened military targets because of their coverage area. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but these are the facts. You can point fingers and infer that I am a "baby killer supporter" all you want, but you'd be pi$$ing in the wind. |

I thought you were calling me a baby killer in another post. If you recall, the original post regarding cluster bombs were due to the fact that unexploded munitions look like toys. There are other weapons that could be used. But it's pretty pointless to debate with you I found. |

Hell, anything could "look" like a toy to a child. Does the unexploded munition look like a doll or a Six Million Dollar Man toy? No. A kid will play with anything if left unattended. I remember getting my niece a big Winnie the Pooh for her 2nd birthday. Suzy played with the BOX! (Of course now she has it with her stuffed animals, but the point is that kids will play with anything that interests them. There is absolutely no way to childproof ANY bomb.) |
