I've been trying to brainwash myself these past few days. I'm a registered Democrat (doesn't tell much as to how I'm going to vote in November) and I'm planning to immerse myself in Republican rhetoric for the next few days. I'm going to surround myself with GOP's from every part of this good country and I'm not going to say a word but listen, listen, listen. Cheney is addressing a NRA convention and Bush is propping up Arlen Specter. Big parties in Pittsburgh and I'm going to crash every last one of them.

I KNOW there are some of us here so far to the right that it would only take a centimeter before we fell off the spectrum. Same probably goes for the left but I'm willing to give George and Dick a chance to sell me a dream.

Question is, how high is your tolerance level? What would be (if you could imagine one) your turning point? At what point are you willing to concede that the other side might have a point? I refuse to believe that some of us are so deeply indoctrinated in hate that we aren't even willing to listen.

My turning point? Two years ago, I was NOT a fan of the Bush administration. I was with him on Afghanistan and OBL but couldn't follow his line of thinking on Iraq. I still can't. I resented being misrepresented as anti patriotic just because I didn't agree with the man's policies. All of a sudden, we're up there with OBL. Not true.

My turning point? I had to go see for myself. I didn't have much to lose anyway. But that experience was my turning point. Regardless of what party you have to register for to vote, politics is a dirty game. Being president is an awesome responsibilty. Lives can drop at the nod of this man's head, including those of our own. Gotta give the man credit for sticking to his guns even if I don't agree with most of his politics.

But I'm gonna try anyway......oops... I'm late, gotta go pick up some signs.

I wouldn't call that "brainwashing." That is what the Kool-Aid drinkers do. In Republican politics, we call it "returning from the dark side!" Now if I could only convince 24... :)

I deleted my post. I was making myself sick being a compassionate centrist  I almost lost myself.

Hopefully, if nobody says anything stupid in the next few days in Pittsburgh I'll find my OHHHHMMMMM :meditate: :meditate:

:backsign: :evil1:

Dang I love these emoticons. There you go, my turning point is if someone can get me some more of these smilies to play with, I'll vote Republican in November
!

Doesn't take much to humor a disgruntled Democrat. Hey Admiral, any flannel shirts, cowboy hats, AK 47's I can borrow for the convention? :rotfl: JUST KIDDING! :evil1: :sorry: :jawdrop:

Sorry, not a lot of people wear flannel shirts in Southeast Texas (current temperature at 17:10 local, 77°F). AK-47s are illegal, but I can lend you an SKS. A Texan never gives up his hat. He may take it off, but he never lends it out.

Well, whatever Republicans (or Democrats, for that matter) say is testable. Once you've determined that what they say lines up (or does not line up) with your own ideologies, the choice ought to be a simple one. :)
