I heard last week that during a tribute to Sen. Byrd, a Democratic senator was saying that he would have been right during the Civil War. Byrd was a member of the KKK, so where is the outrage against this senator, I forget his name. Look at all the outrage against Trent Lott when he praised Strom Thurmond. Why isn't this senator having to apologize on BET, and why hasn't the NAACP done anything? I guess a Democrat can get away with saying basically the same thing as a Republican when the Republican lost his leadership role. Have any of you heard of this story and what are your thoughts on it

Haven't heard much ado.

I'm surprised the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh haven't jumped on that one to give it more press coverage.

You can't complain about something you don't know about.

Both have talked about it, they noted that there is a slight difference in that Dodd isn't in a leadership postition, then they noted that the lack of mention from the media is telling.

IMHO and not just because I'm a registered Democrat (which doesn't tell much as to which way I'm going to vote or how I truly feel) it just doesn't seem as scandalous with a senator from the North. It makes for better drama with a Republican from the south, wouldn't you think?

Now if it were a sex scandal, we'd be in a whole different ball field.

I don't know much about it because I haven't seen that much on it. I missed the Hannity and Combs segment. That's my point: Where is the media attention?

You haven't heard about it because there is absolutely no left-bias in the dominant media. [/SARCASM]

The NAACP knows who butters their bread. It isn't about racism, it's about power.

I imagine the "subtle" difference, if the media were to reply to this, would be to say that Dodd's comment was offered in jest and Lott's was offered in a serious manner. Or some other equally flimsy excuse...
