Side note: Did you know that Nero could not have played a fiddle while Rome burned since these weren't invented yet? It may have been a lyre (or perhaps a kithara?) that he played. Of course, George Bush could have played either had he wished to do so.... ;)

Yes, I know that the fiddle had not been invented. It is a figure of speech, which is why I paraphrased it. I understood that Nero usually played the lyre while he composed bad poetry.

I know that on Sept 4 (eight months after he had briefed Rice about it) Richard Clark's anti terror plan reached the Pricipals Committee and they sent it to Bush. Is that what you're talking about?

Bill's post:
1) Please read things carefully.
2) We're discussing the memo that was first mentioned on this thread.

Adrian's post:
1) What memo are we discussing?

My post:
Reread Bill's post, ESPECIALLY #1!!!

The President and his administration have been wrong time and time again - on the most crucial events that have taken place during this presidency. Everything from the President's supposed belief that al-Qaeda was important but not urgent (pre 9-11) to his delusion that Saddam Hussein posed an imminent threat to the security of the United States - wrong, wrong, wrong.

I could do without G-Dub as president, but I can't blame him for everything that has gone wrong.

Al-Quaeda was important but not urgent: So what? Any of us in his position could have made that determination.

As for Iraq as imminent threat, I probably would have believed that too until it became evident that the inspectors weren't finding anything. I did not oppose action in Iraq until that became clear - I live in NY and still don't like the idea of living in a target. Anyone who would gas his own people would have no problem gassing a subway.

Blaming Bush for everything that has gone "wrong" is just too simplistic for me.

PERSONAL OPINION

And just as George Bush is not all wrong, neither is John Kerry. For that matter, even Clinton loved his mother.

What is wrong is that, in a land with the talent and resources of the United States of America, the best they could come up with for candidates is these two "vanilla", privileged and wealthy white men.

Being a white male is not a crime, but, in and of itself is not the sole qualification for a President either.

End of Personal Opinion

Relax anon,
I was just asking the contents of the memo (I think I know, but I wanted confirmation). The original post dosen't say, except for that it was on Al Quieda.
