Something Wicked This Fae Comes

Is anyone going to watch this movie next Sunday night? Homeland Security Sunday, April 11 9/8pm Homeland Security This NBC Original Movie takes you inside the war on terror, to meet the American warriors on the front lines. They wage a war with no rules. They pursue an enemy hiding throughout the world. They know that some of their greatest victories will never be made public. But together, their mission is a singular one: to protect the American homeland. TV14 This description is not how they are promoting the movie on TV. I just saw a preview and it is promoting the movie as an overview of the events leading up to 9/11 (all of the "signs" and/or how the terrorists prepared to carryout the attack), the events of 9/11 and its aftermath (a connect the dots kind of movie drama). I honestly don’t know how I feel about a movie being put out about 9/11 in this format (as some drama instead of a documentary type movie). I am wondering how accurate they could actually be when the investigation into 9/11 hasn’t even been completed yet. I have yet to decide if I want to watch it. From what I could tell from the preview, the movie just seems kind of tacky. *** I posted this thread in Kick Back because it is about a movie. However, if the Mod thinks it should be in Politics because of the subject matter of the movie, then by all means move it...it is up to you.

I'll probably watch it, and it will probably piss me off. NBC is very liberal, and this movie will likely only show public reaction from the few who are against this war...I.E. John Kerry/anti Bush supporters. Spoiler: click to toggle

I probably won't watch it mostly because I don't have a lot of time to watch TV. As it is, I'm wondering when I will find the time to watch the 47 hours of DS9 episodes that I have never seen and will tape this week. But I doubt I would watch it even if I had the time. From the description on nbc.com, I wouldn't. From your description of the preview you saw, I might. But then again I don't like the idea of a dramatization about this event. I also think it's in poor taste to be doing this while so many families are still waiting for some sort of factual explanation - i.e., the 9/11 commission report. |

I have actively avoided anything really related to this. Words like "hatchet job" come to my mind... The promos make it sound like an expose. You will see all the answers come out as to why it happened and who is to blame. Given the way NBC screws up the promotions of their shows (i.e. West Wing this past week), wht they promise and what it really will say are probably worlds apart. However, I think I will find something else to watch, or maybe.... read... |

No - saw and heard all I need to at the time. Making a movie out of it is distasteful and in bad taste. |

It is 10 minutes into the movie and I am already feeling sick to my stomach. They should have waited several more years to put this kind of move out (if even then). |

At least we still haven't seen the proposed comedy TV series yet ... "What happens when the surviving spouses of 9/11 meet and fall in love" First time I heard that suggestion was within weeks of 9/11. |

What a load of crap. A pilot episode of CSI: World. Nothing more than another boring crime drama. NOT to mention that BS Las Vegas scene at the end. I give it

The first 30-40 minutes of the movie was difficult to watch. They showed some of the prep work the terrorists took leading up to 9/11, a little bit of news footage of the planes crashing into the Towers and a couple of human interest stories. The rest of the movie focused on the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, US military action in Afghanistan and going after terrorists (trial, interrogation, etc.). This movie had a lot of potential, but the characters, the plot and the overall flow of the movie was too predictable. Not too mention the corny dialogue. They (the writers) would have been better off focusing entirely on the hunt for terrorists and what happened in Afghanistan (with only a brief respectful nod to 9/11). The last few minutes of the movie were the best (the part where the boyfriend was talking to the other terrorist). That whole scenario spoke volumes about the possible threats here in the US (e.g. sleeper cells, etc). Edit: If I had to rate this movie...two thumbs way down. |

If they really want to do a movie on a subject like this they should adapt Tom Clancy's recent novel "Teeth of the Tiger". It's not his best, but at least it's imaginative... |
