Well time for still another episode. I'm in a bit of a hurry today, so no cute jokes. Post your reviews here and we will see you after the show!

I actually enjoyed tonight’s episode.

Pros

--Those cute little baby Xindi-Insectoids. :D Paramount should market them. They would probably make a bundle off of them…along with the Tribbles. :)

--This story was very reminiscent of a good TNG episode. One of the main characters is affected/infected by something (biological, brainwashing, etc.). The result being a mutiny or some other struggle to reveal the truth (Lonely Among Us, Conspiracy, Shades of Gray, The Mind’s Eye, The Game). The formula was the same, but not a rip-off that I could tell.

--Mayweather got some on-air time. :woohoo:

--Did I mention those cute little baby Insectoids? :D

--I like Steven Culp (Major Hayes). He is a good actor and I wish he could have more on-air time. I thought the scene when he and Reed were transporting the Insectoid bodies back to the Enterprise was humorous. Hayes kicking the bag and pulling the gun was perfect. His antsy behavior reminded me of myself when I am in the process of taking a bug outside. I will wrap the bug or spider up in a napkin, carry it outside and open the napkin and shake it on the ground. But looking at the napkin I realize that the bug/spider is clinging onto the napkin for dear life and starts to head for my hand. Of course, I go eeeeek and start throwing the napkin down and brushing my clothes and hair off thinking that the little sucker somehow climbed on me somewhere. Anyway... :P

Cons

I can’t think of any right now.

I give this episode :) :) :) :P out of 5 :)

Edit: I just thought of a Con.

When entering the hatchery at the beginning, they removed their masks. I thought that was odd considering they were going to have to close the mask as soon as they walked out of the hatchery. I wouldn’t care that the sensor detected breathable air, they were on an alien ship. I wouldn’t have taken the chance. I don't know, the scene just didn't seem right.

I wondered about the breathable air later - it appeared that the whole ship - not just the hathery part - now had life support capable of sustaining humans.

Maybe I got it wrong, but it didn't seem to make sense.

It did have that little touch of "The Paradise Syndrome" to it, didn't it?

Not great, but not bad. Bormanis' script was at least more cohesive than B&B's efforts.

24, I can't believe you are the only one to post a review so far. I had to watch a tape tonight because I have a household of guests from out of town (my Sister-in-law)

Anyhow, when I finally saw it I thought it wasn't too bad. Much better then last week. But like last week it was just too predictable. Who didn't figure out almost immediately that Archer was affected by the goo sprayed on him? The only suspense came from wondering whether or not the crew would have the guts to go through with the mutiny.

It was nice, however, that Hayes got to have a nice little lesson that things aren't always black and white. He admitted at the end that he would have sided with Archer because of his training, but he is starting to see that things are different out there.

Hey 24 - I thought the insectoid babies were cute too - but my sister-in-law was totally freaked out when they were climbing all over Archer. :loling: :rotfl: My husband isn't admitting anything, but I know he is as squeamish as his sister  I don't think they will sell as well as Tribbles.

I give it :) :) :) out of 5 :) I don't think it deserved the extra half smiley because it was too predictable. But it was more enjoyable then last week.

Edit - when I started writing Wichita and Starbase hadn't written anything yet.

This episode was ok. I've seen better and worse this season. Nothing too exciting, but at least there wasn't any gratuitous skin scenes. I agree with Minuet that it was predictable though.

I did like the character development with Hayes and Reed. Reed developed more respect for Hayes' abilities when Hayes figured out how to target the Xindi ship. Hayes developed more respect for Reed when he realized there is more to defending a ship than just knowing how to shoot and fight hand-to-hand combat.

I give it :) :) ;) out of :) :) :) :) :)

On a note not specific to this episode, why do they keep showing us "previously on Enterprise" scenes? With all the commercials UPN does, the episode footage is already short enough. Now they have to waste more air time these reminders as though it's important we remember those scenes - but those scenes never lead up to anything... Maybe they figure they're doing so many filler episodes that we might forget the details of the few stories that actually address the Xindi "arc".

Yep, I know what you mean. When T’Pol took a shuttle pod to the surface she walked into the alien ship, and life support had been “restored.” Definitely, didn't make sense. Especially considering the ship (except for the hatchery) was completely non-functional. I think it was even mentioned that the Xindi diverted all remaining resources/life-support to the hatchery (the reason why some of the Xindi had suffocated). :ermm:

 They were a tad creepy when crawling on Archer...but still cute. :P

I think the little baby Insectoids would become a big hit with the young male fans. I find that young guys like the creepy crawly stuff anyway. Paramount could also create an action figure set complete with Enterprise replica, Expanse Sphere, the Enterprise crew, all 5 of the Xindi species and a few baby Insectoids. Of course they would probably try to sell the set for $400.00....$20.00 for each action figure sold separately. I am going to start saving now. :wow:

Maybe they do think it's important. Much of what was shown was related to what was in the episodes and will likely be important in later stories.

It was obvious to egg affected Archer but I still liked the episode . Mayweather got something to do. No gratuitous massage scenes, a couple of Hoshi scenes and even a mention of the Eugenics War. UPN even had a promo for a Bakula live chat on UPN.com.
:) :) :) 1/2 out of 5 :)

Did anyone else get visions of "targeting wamp rats in Beggar's Canyon back home" as he explained how to use the targeting sensors to hit the impulse manifolds?

No because George Lucas eliminated Biggs and until we get the Star Wars DVD Directer's cut I can't enjoy that vision! ;)

Haven't seen it. I have a question, though... what would be the purpose of examining and maintaining a hatchery? If they want to learn more about the Xindi insectoids, then why not examine the ADULT ones you kill?

But wait, then we wouldn't have "Hatchery" would we?

I may watch this Sunday, but I am getting to the point where I'm just fed up with Enterprise.

Here's a stupid question: If Xindi are supposed to be so alike, but have five different subspecies, then how are they all born differently? Wouldn't that also be a trait (warm blooded, for example)? The whole subspecies idea was probably thought out by someone who thinks that astrology is a science...

Not knowing much about the Xindi, they wouldn't know what they might or might not find out from the hatchery so they probably figured it wouldn't hurt to look. They did examine some adults corpses found at the hatchery too.

This has always bothered me as well. I've come to think of it as five different species who came to live together on the same planet and began to consider themselves the same race by their eventual longevity of co-existence on the same planet. I don't honestly believe that is what the creators of the Xindi concept had in mind, but it's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Maybe the Xindi are a bioengineering experiment and after the "Makers" moved on the Xindi were allowed to evolve on their own or as Admiral Bill suggests the scientifiv knowledge is a bit weak.

I can't believe one of the Star Wars comics is doing a Biggs Darklighter series...back in the early 80s when I belonged to an East Coast APA called Equinox, I did a Biggs Darklighter series...I should see who's writing the comic to see if I've been ripped off...
