I found this information at the TrekToday.com website. Folks, it ain't lookin' too good.........

February 13, 2004 - 12:26 AM
"Star Trek: Enterprise might not be soaring through space next season," began an article on UPN's future plans, quoting CBS and UPN chairman Leslie Moonves on the possibility that Enterprise might not return for a fourth season.

In a Scripps Howard News Service reprinted in the Tri-City Herald, Moonves said,
"You see the new stuff, you see the old stuff, and you compare and say, 'What is the better schedule?' So it's not like, 'Gee, if Enterprise is up 10 percent between now and May, it will get picked up.' It's rather - you know, it's not a science, but it's, 'All right. How do we build Wednesday better?' 'Does it include Enterprise?' Very possibly. 'Does it not?' Possibly as well."

Stating that the fate of the series will remain uncertain for several months - at least until April, when the network will review its 2004-5 schedule, Moonves added that instead of being cancelled, Enterprise might move to Friday nights - a move long predicted by Mediaweek Programming Insider Marc Berman.
UPN entertainment president Dawn Ostroff, who along with Moonves announced the development of an as-yet-untitled reality show about five sheltered Amish teens living in the outside world, promised that Enterprise would have many twists and turns for the rest of the season.

As has been widely reported, Enterprise has suffered declining ratings over the course of the past two seasons. Despite critical praise of the action-oriented story arc established this season, ratings remain down from last year.

Plus increased competition from this Battlestar Galactica series, if we ever see that. Not competition on the same night but regular sci fi fans may be drawn to that as their weekly must see. Enterprises fan base is made up of die hards that watch it cos its trek, we have to see what happens. But I dont think the show has enough there to draw in new teen fans - its not 'out there' enough and lets face it the crew are a bit dull.

Enterprise might be replaced (timeslot wise) by a reality show about sheltered Amish teens?  :rotfl:

I have a feeling we are going to see the rumor mill go into overdrive, probably perpetrated by Moonves himself, to see what kind of support or ratings increase Enterprise receives in the next few months.

Hmmmmm (clears throat) ....

Those of us from "Amish country" take this news verrrryyyyyy seriously.

OK, not that seriously .... ;)

A local sheriff - a couple of years ago - went to the local judge and asked for shock probation for a group of Amish teens that he had serving time in his jail. During the period of "freedom" allowed by their faith for young people, the young men had racked up enough complaints to get local jail time. The problem the sheriff encountered was that they enjoyed it too much.... cable tv, fast food, and no work.  The sheriff made the case that sending them home would have a more lasting effect that keeping them locked up.

I dont know about you guys but we are getting swamped by reality TV shows here, there was an article in the weekend paper about there being around 24 reality series to be screened on TV this year. We get the American ones as well as the British ones as well as Aussie ones ( Aussie ones for some reason always include renovating a house in some fashion ). I'm sick of them already, I thought Survivor alllstars would be good, but switched it off as soon as Hatch disrobed. All others are trash. Except for 'Average Joe' which I found quite amusing - the one with 12 trekkie types after the cheerleader.

The trouble is these shows are far easier and cheaper to make or buy than shows such as Enterprise, and free-to-air stations will invest in them in their war against Pay TV.

There will always be a market for trek, but I think this will change to DVD and cable formats as the entire structure of free TV changes.

Battle Star Glilatica will be shown on satlelight here in the UK, i you get our cable channels they are one of the movie channels. I had a felling this was going to happen, hy am I not surprised, the damaged it so much with the nakedness and the bad story lines. I enjoyed Enterprise but this is real bad. :(

Captain, US television is already adopting the Australian format and initiating reality shows involving construction of homes...

Average Joe 2 is already airing... More shows like it are on the way... I hope that the reality craze comes to an end soon. I would really like to see shows with some imagination involved in them rather than show after show about how to screw over your teammates in pursuit of cash...

I have been saying this all along. No one will believe me that Star Trek is real life. ;) I am glad someone else is bold enough to publicly admit that they have a similar belief. :P

Isn't "reality television" a contradiction in terms? :D I always thought it was an oxymoron.

I have a feeling that the best venue for future Trek would be tv movies. One or two "good" movies a year could keep the franchise going.

Enterprise IMO missed the boat in a lot of ways. When I heard it was a prequel, I was looking forward to tales of first contacts and growing relationships with all those races we see as Federation members in the TOS era. Instead it headed straight off into all these "temporal cold war" themes, and lost me. The Xindi Arc has at least raised the level a bit, but is still too uneven to sustain a series.

Oh well, it's been a nice ride since Sept 8, 1966.
