I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but the likeness is undeniable. The nacelles are above the body and the main deflector is at the front of the saucer, but the body of the ship itself is almost identical. I really don't like the strip style deflector too, isn't it supposed to be dish-shaped? |

This was a major point of argument on the Enterprise board on ST.com. In fact, it was part of my first rant... err, POST at that site. You have to remember that the design of both ships came from those creative thinkers, Berman and Braga (people who take entire scenes from other series and adapt them for Enterprise). |

Thanks for the reply, Admiral. What about the deflector though? Have you ever seen one look like that? |

Can't comment on the deflector, but once upon a time I heard (and now I can't remember where), that when the time came for designs to be submitted for the NX-01, someone sent over a model of the Akira class ship, and when (whomever) picked it up, they actually picked it up UPSIDEDOWN and thought it was such a cool ship that they wanted to use it for the NX-01. Anybody else hear that scuttlebutt? |

B&B probably put that there just so they could deny that it's truly an Akira class ship if, I mean when someone brought it up. (Seriously, I don't know.) |

I heard that turning the Enterprise upside down is how they came up with the plans for Reliant. |

First time mentioned here, I believe...(I'm being nice, 24th!!!
)Both the Akira and NX-01 were designed by John Eaves, the NX-01 possibly taking the overhead design of Akira due to the class' popularity with the fans. If you look at both ships in side view (as I used to tell my old friend thecommander) you'll see more differences than similarities.

If I remember correctly thecommander always complained that the ship was called Enterprise, did he not think of this? The Enterprise NCC-1701 might be named for the first warpship Enterprise? No its not an Akria class that class we saw was from CGI. |

Yes I have... in the game Starfleet Command II. A lot of the "X" class future starships sported them. |

Thanks Admiral, I only have Elite Force and Bridge Commander, I didn't know additional ships were created for the PC games. |
