Has Enterprise been around long enough to have a clip show? I think so.

I don't know, supposedly this whole third season is an alternate timeline given Daniel's comments in Carpenter Street. Does it really count then?

By clip show, do you mean "bloopers" Gvok? Or... maybe one of those shows that has five minutes of plot that interlaces scenes from previous shows (a la TNG's second season episode "Shades of Gray"?)

I think he means the second one AB.

If so, it has probably been around long enough, but personally I don't like those very much. It's like watching reruns which we get in between new episodes anyway. I'd rather see any new episodes devoted to new events, not rehashed old ones.

Definitely... I always thought those kind of episodes as cop-outs (except "The Menagerie" of course!)!

I agree, I cannot stand "clip shows" they always feel like an excuse for the crew to take a weeks holiday ( the production crew , not the starship crew)

Every once in awhile, a show will have one that has a clip show set up, but they actually filmed new scenes for - it helps to fill in the blanks without devoting a whole half hour or whole hour to a particular theme. Those I like because you are never quite sure if you are seeing something new or just missed it the first time.

I wouldn't care for an Enterprise clip show because I'm having a hard enough time watching the episodes themselves a second time.

I agree, clip shows are usually mediocre at best. Shades of Gray is probably the worst TNG episode ever. There were a lot of other bad episodes in TNG, but a clip show about Riker? Ugh. And while I'm at it, I can't pass up an opportunity to sound the DS9 horn: DS9 did only one show with "clips" the very end of What You Leave Behind showed about one minute of clips as a vehicle for characters remembering the times they had together before they leave. Very effective and useful unlike most clip shows I have seen.

I also wanted to add that I though Menagerie was an ingenious way for TOS to include the original pilot as part of cannon. I always wondered what TOS would be like if NBC accepted the original pilot. I also think some fiction about Captain Pike and Spock is in order, I wonder if there have been books about that yet.

I was joking about the clip show idea. But now I'm thinking they should do it.

Actually if its done right a clip show would be a great idea to bring any new viewers up to speed on exactly what is happening and why Enterprise is in The Expanse.

Maybe if they did something like a review of Archers Captain's Logs. The premise could be that after so many months he has to send a buoy with his logs in it back through the Expanse to Starfleet Command. He and T'Pol and maybe even Trip are just reviewing the logs and reflecting back on the mission so far...

Hmmmmmmmmmm... workable?

Why would ENT want to do a clip show. They have the money, and look at the reception "Shades of Gray" from TNG's second season received.

In my opinion clip shows are really only aimed at fans who are just jumping into a series. I can remeber the first time I saw the episode Disclosure from Stargate SG-1. I saw this before I had gotten to see every episode and it was very good in my opinion. However with last weeks episode Inauguration, I still enjoyed the main plot and didn't mind seeing clips from the great episodes of the past. I think a clip show can be good even to die hard fans as long as the frame story is good enough and interesting. Basically you have to ask would I enjoy the episode without the clips thrown in? If no as in the case of "Shades of Grey" then don't bother. However if the answer is yes a la "The Menagerie" then go for it.
