Does anyone know of an effective way to permenently remove a family of squirls that decided to make a home in my roof just above my bedroom? I heard something about a device that emits a noise that the human ear cannot detect, but the squirls hear.

Yeah, for some reason I think the survivors would be back the next day. Plus I don't own any firearms and don't really want to (although I support the right to keep and bear arms).

How about one of those fake owls. It is supposed to scare away the woodpeckers, but it would seem to me that squirrels wouldn't like them either.

Only if you intend to have them for supper Mister ....

I typed "How to get rid of squirrels?" into MSN and came up with several sites for the thing you were asking about.

Also there was this article:

Thanks, that's very helpful.

Does the Gray Squirl live in Britian and Australia (just out of curiosity)?

If you look in the Yellow Pages (under Wildlife, I think) I believe you can find companies who do humane removal. I had a squirrel get caught in my chimminey once and had it removed this way. These companies will also plug the hole used by the animals to get in so they cannot get in again.

Sorry, I don't know anything about getting rid of squirrels, but I'm in the process of figuring out how to get rid of an armadillo from my back yard. The darn thing comes through at night and leaves about a dozen burrow holes in my back yard each time. It's a wonder I have any grass left! :realmad:

LOL! That would be great if I owned and knew how to shoot a gun, but I don't. Plus, I don't think my neighbors would be too pleased with me shooting a gun off in the neighborhood.

I think I'll stick with the organic lawn sprays that are supposed to make the ground taste terrible to the critter. That will do until I can get someone to trap it and remove it (the spray only lasts for a couple of months before retreatment is necessary).

Drive your car into the backyard at night and turnon the head lights. The Armadillo will invariably run right out in front of your car and stare into the head lights. Then just run over him. It alway works on the highways where I live.

SPLAT!

Seriously, there are traps that you can probably get or rent. For an armodillo, the .22 sounds like a better idea. .22s are not very loud, your neighbors may not even notice that you shot it. Now, if you use a shot gun, you will probably rouse the neighbors. My old neighbor killed gophers with his shotgun and everybody knew it, but we were glad to be rid of the gophers. ;)

Speak softly, and carry a 57 megaton stick!
There are few problems in life that can't be solved with sufficient quantities of high explosives.

Alternativelly, you could try nerve gas.
