The Inner Light!

This was the kind of life that Picard had never lived!

In just a short span, he lived the fullest life, (considering the circumstanses), that a man could live, as Kamen!

The ending, when he started to play Kamen's flute, was absolutly haunting!

And to the easy poll...

Well, well, well. What to choose. So many, but I'd have to say it comes down to 'Matter of Honor' where Riker serves as a exchange officer on the Klingon vessel. I know haveing Worf gave the TNG a Klingon perspective, but its just not the same as seeing that perspective from a group of Klingons in a Klingon envirnoment. Very well done. Interesting look at the "other" side of a former enemy and one of the few times we were immersed in an alien culture so effectively...at least in TNG. B}

Darn, did it again! I meant to add that of those listed, I'd go with 'Inner Light.' Quiet, different, very meloncholy and powerful.

I watched Soldiers of the Empire from DS9 last night, seeing the Klingons in action was cool!

I saw The Inner Light a few nights ago and still consider it my favorite. I also saw some other great ones this week like The High Ground, Darmok, and Thine Own Self.

You know, Darmok always pissed me off. Dunno why.

Maybe because it takes a few viewings to watch. It was such an intellegently written show, and shows one aspect of Trek that seems to be lacking so much in the franchise, the issue of communication.

Oh, I agree it was a very well written episode, but It's just irritating to watch!

I loved Darmok. Agree that its one of the better written episodes in the series. And double kudos for bringing the Epic of Gilgamesh into the 24th Century and making it relevant! Long live Enkidu! :wow:

I remember watching this episode a few years back while studying the epic of Gilgamish. It really helped enhance the show since I was familer with how it went.

I really like this episode, too.
One of my favorite scenes in all of Trek is the one where Riker is sitting in the galley with Klagg and the others, and Riker makes a remark about the differences between Klingons and humans.
One of the Klingons tells him:
'Like you, I have two parents. I look like them; they loook like me.'
It's a really great scene.

I always liked this episode, too. Watching Picard gradually come to understand the mythological lingo and the purpose of their encounter is fabulous.

The Inner light was fabulous, but I really enjoyed "The Measure of a Man"

Especially when Guinan gave Picard the idea of slavery!

That was spectacular!

Wow. That "Inner Light" episode is blockbuster, at least on this site. It is a great episode, no doubt about it.

One of my selfish favourites is "Q Who", which facilitates the first meeting with the Borg. Often overshadowed by TBOBW, it all has an eerie ambience about it from beginning to end. And some great dialogue from Q that kind of put us in our place, so to speak.

It's good to know that there are some real classic jewels during the TNG run that in some way shape or form make this a classical SF series fulfilling all expectations as the modern sequel to TOS.
