Enterprise or Survivor?

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, CBS will be having thier new episode of Survivor the same time as Enterprise tommarow night. It might not do anything to the ratings game, but which one will you be watching?

I plan to tape Enterprise tommarow night and watch Survivor instead. I hate reality shows except for Survivor and this year the show keeps on getting better and better. This may sound blasphemous, but I'm looking more foward to survivor than Enterprise tomarrow night. Which will you be watching, if you are a fan of survivor and ENT?

I've never seen an episode of Survivor. It'd be different if it was about real survival.

Gdog…I also like Survivor and I have watched every season. However, I plan on watching Enterprise tomorrow and taping Survivor. Or, I may tape Enterprise (just in case I have last minute Turkey day preparations to make), and skip watching Survivor all together. IMO, this season’s Survivor has been a little boring and pales in comparison to previous seasons.

And to expound on what AB said about the show not being about real survival...

In the first few seasons, there was more of a harsh survival quality to the show. Now, I can't help but think it is more like a bunch of adults camping out. IMO, the show is losing its edge.

Oh, I'll be watching Enterprise. When I first heard of the Survivor concept, I thought that what they should've done was give each of the contestants a Swiss Army Knife, drop them off on a deserted island for 6 weeks, totally leave (no cameras, no crew eating Big Macs in the background), and determine the winner by who was still in the best shape when they came back later to pick them up. Now that would be survival.

24th,

I agree that the conditions are not as harsh as they were in say the Outback, or the first one, but I got to disagree about this season being boring. I think the producers spicing up the show by bringing back Burtan and Lil was a great move, and it seems like according to the promos, immunity is going to be stripped for the first time. In a sense, I think this show is more edgier than marquases, or africa and I like that it focuses more on stradegy than actual survival.

I try to avoid "reality" programming entirely although I think I watched about five minutes of the first Survivor's finale.

I like Tribblemom's idea. Just drop these people off with nothing but a Swiss Army knife. I'd let them have the clothes on their backs (unless ratings were down) and maybe a canteen. The cameras could come in every five days to film for a few hours and gather up the quitters. Then the contestants are left alone again until only one is left.

True, this season has had some highlights. And strategy in this game is just as important as any other factor. I just think they have been moving too far away from the physical part of the Survivor show. In spite of the fish that has been available (maybe not so much now that Rupert has been voted off), the food has been too readily available. In past Seasons, people struggled to find food and people lost a lot of weight due to being undernourished. People were so exhausted that they had to struggle to participate in the immunity and luxury challenges.

In previous seasons, survivors were initially only given a little rice and maybe a few other items (cooking pot). Survivors are given more and more now from the start of the game.

I like the twists and turns that they put in the show (you mentioned bringing Burton and Lil back). This is the part that keeps a show going (the element of surprise). I just think they shouldn't move too far away from the original formula or the show will not be able to legitimately call themselves Survivor (more like Rough Vacation).

Lol! I just saw a preview for tomorrow's show while I was typing this. Just might tape the show after all. :D

I am definitely in the camp of being against "reality" tv shows. Most, fom the amount that I have been exposed to them qualify as LCD-tc (lowest common denominator).

They are a great media business model, though. Cheap to produce and make lots of money...Posted Image

I'm afraid I'm going to have to watch Enterprise. I don't care for Survivor, and don't get how people can watch the reality show garbage.

Plus, I've been looking forward to this episode too much to miss it. :)

ENT all the way, except I don't have a t.v. right now--LOL. So, I'll probably come into work and watch a video (ENT) with my family. I just received a tape in the mail yesterday, with Rajiin, Impulse, Exile, The Xindi, and The Shipment on it. I can't wait! :)
