Here's some interesting information: I've been curious as to who is organizing the anti-Bush, anti-American (and yes, they are also anti-American) protests. You've seen pictures of them outside Buckingham Palace, and on the streets of London (but not in numbers that were promoted originally by the media). It turns out that the organizers are the Stop the War Coalition, a group of various hard left groups comprised of socialists, communists, radical environmentalists, and radical Islamists. Here is a list of the steering committee: Mohammed Aslam Aijaz (London Council of Mosques), Sait Akgul (Federation of Kurdish Community Organisations in the UK), Tariq Ali (Broadcaster and Writer, anti-western radical), Lois Austin (Socialist Party), Roger Bannister (UNISON NEC * and Socialist Party), Jim Brann (London Region CND Exec *), Andrew Burgin (Housmans Peace Bookshop), Graham Cee (Labour Left Briefing), Louise Christian (Lawyer), Jeremy Corbyn MP, Tekin Kartal Daymer (The Turkish / Kurdish community Centre), Laura Dubinsky (Fundraiser for radical environmental and communist groups), George Galloway MP (accepted money from Saddam Hussein and is STILL under investigation), Lindsey German (Editor, Socialist Review), Suresh Grover (National Civil Rights Movement), Stephanie Harrison (Campaign Against Criminalizing Communities), John Haylett (Editor, Morning Star), Mark Hoskisson (Workers Power), Soraya Lawrence (Lawyers Against the War), Fred Leplat (Branch Officer Islington Unison), Mike Marqusee (Media Workers Against the War), Andrew Murray (Communications Officer: ASLEF *), Chris Nineham (Globalise Resistance), John Rees (Socialist Workers Party), Bernard Regan (NUT Executive *), Asad Rehman (Newham Monitoring Group and rabid radical Islamist), Ratin Roy (SOAS: School of Oriental and African Studies), Carlos Rule (Socialist Labour Party), Tanja Salem Al-Awda (Campaign for Palestinian Rights), Helen Salmon (National Executive NUS *), Jane Shallice, Christine Shawcroft (Labour Against the War), Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui (Muslim Parliament), Rae Street (Peace activist), Shahedah Vawda (Just Peace), Hilary Wainwright (Editor, Red Pepper), Wolf Wayne (Green Socialist Network and Socialist Alliance). Y'know, it amazes me the media HAS NOT CONDEMNED these loonies. These people don't care a whit about peace. They hate the west, they hate western values, and they hate capitalism. Unfortunately, over the past decade, the news media has painted these people as warm and fuzzy, cuddly people who only care about you INSTEAD OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE, DESTROY YOUR WAY OF LIFE, OR KILL YOU!! When did hard leftists become socially acceptable? When did watermelon environmentalists (green out the outside, red on the inside) become the norm? Geez, Louise... |

I've cut and pasted that list for future reference. Very interesting indeed. I only know a few of the names, but the list does speak volumes about how radical socialism is believed by some to be the new 'religion' of the U.S. |

Thankfully they have the right to express their views peacefully. It be honest I think the visit went quiet well overall. Remember, a lot of people on the protest are not affiliated to these groups so you shouldnt assume that they are. |
