A little bit of advice and you can take it or leave it. Perhaps you should start using more of the little winking, smiling, and multiple expression emoticons that this board so generously provides. That way, we will know that you were joking when you post what appears at first glance to be a serious straight-forward question. Then we can all avoid wasting our time debating a joke.

OK, yeah. But, the emoticon would've completly eliminated the subtlety, I think. I said 'mostly' tongue-in-cheek. ;)

I am never quite sure how the emoticons will be taken anyhow and I shouldn't have to be too obvious. <_< :ph43r:

It wasn't a joke, it was a real topic. I hoped to get to the point of debate vs. grammer school.

Perhaps we need a name calling forum. This is supposed to be for discussing world events and politics.

Saying "Bush is an idiot", "Blair wears womens underware" and that sort of thing isn't really discussion is it? It is just name calling.

How about if we try to use persuasive arguements in this forum and we set up a separate forum for those who want to just hurl insults at political leaders or celebrities? That way free speech (to call names) is protected and we perserve intellectual discussion as well.

I wouldn't want a separate thread just for name-calling. I don't think name-calling is out of hand here either like it is at TF. This is one reason why we have moderators, to ensure that the board doesn't disintegrate into nothing but trash. So far I think the moderators have been doing a great job.

I don't think we need a special name calling forum. (Mercy - I hope your post wasn't merely rhetorical - designed to provoke thought and inspire accountability).

I think a "having a bad day" forum would be useful to some members.

CP,

Or perhaps 'having a bad week'? :) Anyway, this Board still rocks, IMO. :)
