seeing as Impulse has mentioned the "documented lying" of Bush Jnr - which I have no idea about myself but thought a brave post indeed - I thought it opportune to ask a question I have been wondering about for a while now but too afraid to ask as it might be seen as "trolling" Does Bush still drink alcohol ? I ask only seeing he was quite a heavy drinker in the days gone by I believe. Does his new found chastity extend to alcohol ? |

You know damned well he no longer drinks, and hasn't since his 40th birthday. Now THIS is a troll (and another of your 99% trash posts). |

I am flattered of your esteem of my knowledge of trivia, but what was so special about his 40th birthday ? |

Don't take the bait Admiral! Think about Scotty in "The Trouble with Tribbles" telling Chekov how we're big enough to take a few insults... |

ah yes......but who threw the first punch ?????? (if I were trolling I would have asked about his drug use - the alcohol thing was a genuine question; some "born again" people drink, some don't. Anyway, so what happened on his 40 th birthday ?) |

He made the decision to quit drinking, and hasn't since. |

Time to put something here
|
Do you find it wrong for some one to drink? If Bush did drink would that make him less president worthy? What difference would it make? The same would go for drug use (except for the fact that it is illegal) In the end nether of these things change a thing, so why even wonder? |

^^^ Nz's referrence would seem to imply (either intentionally or unitentionally) that since Bush is reputed to have had a problem with alcohol the past we could make certain inferences about his conduct and decision making process if he continued to imbibe.
Frankly, my friend, that is not for me to decide. If I take you at face value then Admiralbill is overreacting. If I look at it from the Admiral's perspective then you were trying to provoke a reaction. I am happy to argue the topics on their merits alone... If it is a topic you start or Admiralbill, Dandandat, Impulse, 24, or anyone who posts here. If I find the topic worth replying to, I'll reply to it. Now, whether you were trying for a reaction from Admiralbill or not, when I read the start of this thread I knew it would likely get a rise out of some folks here. Only you, in the end, know what you're intentions were in making (genuine curiosity or tweak the conservatives). |

I can't speak for Bush Jr. Maybe Bill has over-reacted to NZ's post (which seemed a fair enough post). I used to drink (like a fish) when I young and silly and I decided of my own accord that I didn't want to (drink to excess) anymore (when I was in my early 20s) and now I only part-take in alcoholic beverages very infrequently - the odd occasional glass of wine or port with a meal, or a scotch and coke maybe at social gatherings or family gatherings (I'll take a glass of Coke or an OG or pineapple juice if this offered as an alternative everytime - and I give beer a real wide berth). I could count on hand how many "drinks" I've this year - nor have I missed the inebrated feelings, throwing up other unpleasant effects and results - I never ever suffered a hang-over - despite sometimes getting very drunk when I was younger - I suspect hang-overs are an "urban myth" perpetrated on us my Hollywood. And it wasn't because I discovered god or had a bad accident or because of a girl - I just decided I'd had enough and was sick and tied of the club / pub scene and didn't want to be part of that anymore because I had other interests and a career I was more interested in building. I have better things to spend my money on these days and like staying in control. So why wouldn't / couldn't Bush do the same ? (This is not to say I like oven respect the man -which I don't.) |

Does Helen Clark drink? Does Tony Blair drink? Does Chirac drink? Does Shroeder (German leader?) drink? Does Sharon drink? Does Arafat drink? etc. etc. etc. If it's a reasonable question to ask about one, it's a reasonable question to ask about all. Some have nuclear arsenals at their disposal that we know about. Some may have them, but we don't know about them. All certainly can create a great deal of havoc with what resources they do have at hand. Personally, I think Dandandat's question is a good one. Does it matter? If the answer is yes, then let's discuss them all. If it doesn't matter, then there's no need to discuss any. My 2 cents (as a poster) ... |

For the last time, George Walker Bush, 43rd president, is NOT a "Jr," "Jnr," or "Junior"! His father, America's 41st president, is George Herbert Walker Bush. Ya live and ya learn. |

But he is the junior generation of his father. I find Junior to be an adequate distinction between GWB and his father. |

Apparently so... I always thought that if a guy had the same first name as his father, he automatically was a "Jr". |

Since, IMO GWBush is a blooming idiot, I sure hope he DOESN'T drink! Alcohol would only make him worse, if that were possible. Julia |
