Speak softly, and carry a 57 megaton stick!

I hate to take away from the vital struggle between left and right, but I was just wondering if you could explain THIS to me. Has he just lost all touch with reality? I will admit that he has put out a couple of good articles. I have agreed with a couple of his points. But this, this is just WEIRD! P.S. The "THIS" is a URL, just noticed it looks kinda inconspicuous. |

It's just satire, making a point about what a great deal of the anti-occupation forces are trying to do in Iraq. |

And I'm to believe that the Iraqi's really think this? Mind you this is a serious question. Rall's mind seems to have left orbit on this one. |

Don't worry... it is just Ted Rall, Commie Pinko extraordinaire. |

I doubt it, but like any good satire it makes you think. |

It isn't satire. This is what we in the US call "a hit piece!" |

Something Wicked This Fae Comes

Rall is obviously being facetious to an extreme in order to make a point about how others in Iraq may view the situation. Is it necessarily true…even to a small degree? Maybe, maybe not. Articles like this are aimed at briefly making people think outside of their comfortable little box. Is the article tacky? Somewhat.

Gee, it's kinda obvious who's side he's on... Maybe, perhaps, he might like a one way ticket to Iraq where he can be given his own personal AK-47, RPG, etc., etc., etc. So that he can aid in broadening the Iraqi Coalition to as close as possible to a truly global coalition. (This, for Mr. Rall's edification, is referred to as sarcasm) |

It was just a very weak article, one of the weakest that I've seen him write. A great hobby of mine is to study propoganda. Though I think that Ann Coulter and Ted Rall are kooks of their respective parties, I like to read their articles anyway to see how their views of the world are distorted by their radical political beliefs. Ann, though given the propensity for name calling (she loves to use "traitor"), and despite having a bit of a misconception about McCarthy (national hero my foot), has made some pretty decent arguments in a few of her articles. Rall, however, has really entered what I can only describe as a fantasy land. He seems to be making articles about how he would like the world to be. Just a few weeks ago, he wrote a piece in which GWB gave a fairwell speech, admitted that he was wrong, and turned himself in to the Hague. However distorted his views were by his politics, at least he used to make actual arguments to support his views. Now, it seems that he just paints pretty pictures and hopes that we like what we see and agree with him. |

I prefer to call it by the term a Hydrologist I know coined in referring to a local county government: The Moronosphere!

This is the very reason why satire has to be written and read very carefully. It is SO easy to misinterpret what the writer is saying. Julia |
