I have my prediction.

Arnold wins, but east LA and other liberal strongholds start to riot chanting no justice no piece.

Liberal groups start a three prong attack

1st endless court appeals over the minutae of the elecetion, from polling times to disenfranchisement due to too few polling places.
2nd, immeditate pettion to recal Arnold before he' sworn in.
3rd The LA times wil continue to investigate Arnold's past rather than his present state actions.

The end result will be the endeding of democracy in California as it turns into a third world economy and jobs continue to melt away.

What's your perdiction?

All in good fun

I would have to say you are about spot on in your predictions Anova. Except I doubt that there will be much actual rioting. Some civil unrest? Probably. There are bound to be some unhappy folks if Schwarzennegger wins.

Word is that the recall petitions are already written and ready to go if anybody other than Davis or Bustamente win the day. I expect te ACLU and other organizatons will look to the wording in the 9th Circuits ruling that let this go forward a couple weeks back now. (I made a post with a link at the time of the ruling on the subject).

Either way, I think, this is far from over.

One final prediction. Assuming Davis is recalled, I think any replacement is likely to be a one-term govenor.

I predict that Arnold will win.

There will be a honeymoon period where fiscal responsibility and efficiency will “appear” to have taken hold.

Once the honeymoon is over, Arnold’s limited government and public administrative abilities will render him incapable of navigating such a complex bureaucracy.

Slowly he will start to take advice from special interest (especially the movie industry). After all, being independently wealthy has never precluded other independently wealthy politicians from being influenced by big business.

In 2.8 years time…after realizing Arnold isn’t any better at running CA than Davis was, the voters will all send in a donation to pay for another Recall election. Besides, Recall elections are now considered vogue and fun, fun, fun!

A Recall election will be held, Arnold will be voted out and in his place a true fiscally responsible and qualified public servant will be voted into office.

My final prediction is that when Arnold is recalled…a Democrat will take his place.

My prediction? A 50 foot wall with electrical and barbed wire surrouding the entire state. No one gets in or out. They will then be free to continue with the sub-human activities.

2.8, really? You're going to give him that long?

I am hoping that we will see a bit of reform in regards to recalling a statewide elected official. As dissatisfied as I have been with Davis since his second budget of his first term (I was oddly hopeful for him when he presented his first budget because it ticked off his own party), I would be happier if there were a higher threshold to warrant a recall other than "We don't like you, you're fired."

Gee, if you are right this could be good for Toronto. After all we have become known as Hollywood North, and a lot of Arnold's economic platform is based on trying to keep the business in California instead of the productions that have been done in Canada for economic reasons.

Gosh, I hope you don't get stuck with our entertainment business. Every time a social issue comes to the for, some politician blame the entertainment industry. I it goes north our simplistic pols will just blame Canada.

Give OH Canada a new meaning.

OK maybe not

Arnold will win a narrow minority of the recall votes, soon thereafter an effort to recall Arnold will start, as many people tend to dislike sexaul predators he will be recalled as well and thus California's recall law willl be showen to be the joke and danger to democracy that it is.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
Well, as long as we don't focus on the business at hand it will be business as usual.

We (especially those of you in CA) had better get used to saying Governor Schwarzenegger. I'll be very surprised if he isn't "elected" governor in today's recall election.

I agree with your prediction, ANOVA, that CA voters will recall Arnold Schwarzenegger at their earliest convenience. This could be an interesting chain reaction if cooler heads don't prevail.

One of his movies was called Total Recall, wasn't it? Fitting.

Time to put something here
When will Politics (not just politicians but every one) go back to being about making good polices? When will we stop acting like two year olds with wet pull-ups?

Dante, you're confusing politics with statescraft.

Remeber, in a democracy most people get exactly the type of government they deserve.

So far, it looks like Governor Schwarzenegger, and it looks like he might actually have a MAJORITY of the vote (over 50% in a three-way race). I predict the recall will pass by a 3-2 margin, and that Bustamante will struggle to get one-third of the vote.

This looks disastrous for the "big government liberalism" experiment that has been California for the past five years. The question is, will Arnold keep his promises, or will he become another "moderate" Republican who loves to spend and spend.

I agree with 24... that he could fall under the influence of some big interest or another. BUT, it won't be Hollywood. They (for the most part) hate him. But Warren Buffett is a big spending fan, and I see that influence rearing its ugly (but nicely coiffed) head.

There won't be another recall anytime soon. Why? Because of Bustamante's disastrous showing. It would look like nothing more than sour grapes and could very easily backfire on the Democrats. That's why Gray Davis this morning said "no" to the idea if the current recall passes. Another recall could effectively minimize the clout of the state Democrat party.

Whether or not there is another recall may be debatable. I still think the petitions will be circulating in very short order, perhaps before the vote is certified.

What is likely more than another recall is a variety of court challenges to overturn it. Those will probably get filed starting tomorrow morning.
