Don't make me use my bare hands on you.

In TOS, women could not be star ship captains. There was an angry woman about this in one episode. In TNG, the Enterprise C from the 2340s had a woman captain. So, I wonder when they allowed women to be captains. I don't remember any woman captains (or higher) from the Star Trek TOS movies. |

The woman in question was pretty insane at the time. She believed that the fact that she was a woman kept her from being a starship captain. The fact was that she did not have the character to be one. Unfortunately, this scenario is played out all too often today as race, gender, and religion cards are used more and more often. |

I think you're talking about the episode "Turnabout Intruder" and Dr. Janice Lester. It's been awhile since I have seen that one, but I don't recall anyone saying that there were no women captains. Only the character of Dr. Lester made any suggestion that she was not allowed to be a captain due to her sex. That being said, I think we also have to remember that ther series took place in the late 1960's. We have to expect that as time passes some revisions may take place to reflect the way our society has changed in the years since the original series aired. |

Yeah, Star Trek 4 had a female captain on the Saratoga. I forgot what her name was though. Also, this seems to be more along the lines of General Trek, so if you don't mind I'm moving this thread there. |

Gdog here real name was Madge Sinclaire she died in 1995, she would be also known as Gerorgis mom and just known as "Captain" in Star Trek IV. She was uncredited. I just looked up the movie database and to my surprise she was the Queen in Comming to America starring Eddie Murphy. |

One would assume Admiral Alynna Nechayev was a Starship Captain... Tryla Scott ("Conspiracy", TNG) was a Starship Captain... Silva LaForge, Geordi's mother, was a Starship Captain... B) |

38957 mentioned Rachel Garrett at the top, I figured Janeway was a given, but I did neglect "Captain" Crusher, didn't I?

Crusher was an acting Captain in Descent, but an actual Captain in "All Good Things..." on the USS Pasteur. Troi was temporarily in command, and not actually promoted to Captain. Uhura even got a chance to be in command in one of the animated episodes, "The Slaver Weapon," perhaps? I'm not sure, and too lazy to get my Star Trek Concordance out at the moment... B) |

Have there ever been any Klingon female Captains? |

Gvok, Yes--either (or both?) of the Duras sisters. Because they were a faction, however, I doubt the Klingon Empire would have bestowed that rank upon either of them. Perhaps they were Captains in the 'P. Chekov' scheme of things.
