Assuming that the crew of Voyager was not paid while they were traveling back to Earth was their desire to get home sufficient motivation to maintain the crew's cohesion and hierarchy? Were there examples of similar real life situations on pre-modern naval ships that got stranded on the high seas? |

I would have to think about the "similar real life situations" but I do believe for some it would have been enough motivation. Others might have found places along the way that might have attracted them enough to stay or gave up on the hope of ever reaching home. |

Never mind getting paid or wanting to go home , how did they not kill each other stuck on the one ship for seven years? What about stealing each others boy/girlfriends and the jealousies involved.I'm not criticizing, I loved the show, but if that had been real life it would have been a pretty big brig by the time they got home. |

Yes. I think they all got along very well and lived fairly comfortable life styles. I always thought the show should have been more like that "Year of Hell" episode (without the time travel of course). |

I think Admiralbill would have to answer this one. As for them getting paid, thier money would've stopped once that were pursumed dead. Maybe after they got discoered to alive and well in another part of space they got half of the money. It is also unlikely that the Maquis got paid seeming that they weren't real Starfleet officer only field promoted. This is what I hate about of Voyager fans, they think as soon as they get home Admiral Janeway got promoted and Commander Chacokty becomes Captain. He wouldn't cause Commander Calvert (Voyagers dead first officer from the pilot) Chacokty and the rest would let off maybe seeming that they are the last of the Maquis and don't have a reason to kill Cardassians. P.S. I am unsure if I spelt Chacoktay correctly. |

I saw the VOY pilot not too long ago. I thought the original crew was pretty cool. It got pretty weird once they were transported to the DQ though. |

It was really the writers very little conflict among Starfleet and Maquis. Unless they knew it was ok seeming that they were far away from Cardassians. The show did get wieard, note is it me or did every race have lack of everything in that quadrant? |

What if the Maquis kept their ship intact and the crew members of Voyager did not die. So the story would then be about Voyager and this other ship trying to get back to the Alpha Quad. That might have been more interesting. |
