Either this guy can't stay focused, or he's George McClellan all over again.

I'm undecided about Clark myself but the guy wasn't promoting an initiative on the subject of light-speed travel and his comments "prompted laughter and applause from the gathering". If he had said something so akward in a real serious tone to the result of dead silence and and crickets that would be one thing. But, especially with his spur on the "faith-based" initiative, its obvioulsy meant in a light-hearted way.

His comment that we need to harness science to move ahead is a little "well duh". This makes him sound like a modern general though.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
Egad, I didn't know that he was from Arkansas! We definately do not want another Arkansan Democrat in the Oval.

I had a long conversation about faster than light travel on the startrek.com science board and I tried to explain to somebody who believed it was possible, that light speed is in effect infinite speed and that is why it cannot be exceeded. The reason why it seems slower than infinite speed to us is that we are in a different (slower) reference frame and blah, blah, blah....

Wesley Clark should do as well or better than most of the other Democratic candidates......

Unless, of course, they find a tape of him giving a speech praising Bush and his advisors in glowing terms

Or

That he was responsible for securing the account for a company that is putting together one of the most intrusive (to personal security) databases in the history of the United States.

Those two things could be a problem ... ;)
