I usually lean more towards the Liberal side, though in a few issues I can get quite conservative.

Middle/upper middle class/upper class (many are conservative), tend to have greater access to computers.

Goodness yes, the upper class can be very conservative. I do have a level of affection and pride for my class, but there can be lots of arguments about fox-hunting among us - quite a large number of upper-class people support fox-hunting (and badger baiting) enormously, etc etc.

god ! this is twice I agree with dandan - and I would go further and add that the fixation on attaching labels to everything and anything by endless, hypothetical, meaningless polling is one of the more quaint aspects of society.

Nah! You just don't want to be the only person who voted liberal in this poll ;)

Anyway, I am somewhere between a blatant fascist and a hard core communist. In other words, I'm a strict moderate. I think that if you go down the left or right wing line of thought, your views on matters will be slanted towards them. The only way to keep a totally free opinion is to shun both sides and instead look at what they offer in the way of candidates and bills on a case by case basis. -_-

Besides, being a moderate makes me a swing voter, that means my vote is more highly sought after then any of you party loyalists.

I'm mostly conservative. I tend to lean left on environmental and labor issues and right on law enforcement and foriegn policy matters.

I would say I was a liberal in social and economic terms, ie suspicious of the state (expecially a centralising state), in favour of the individual. I do, however, take the view that the state is needed to enable as many people as possible to achieve their potential (not to try and do everything for them).

The intent of this post was not to lable anyone but rather to get a sense of weather my impression that most people lean conservative on this site. I also wanted to generate some conversation on the topic. So, no one is trying to pigeon hole you into any category. Honestly. ;)

Perhaps the question should have covered more of the political spectrum like:

  • Libertarian
  • Conservative
  • Liberal
  • Communist
  • Middle

Basically, you can make an XY graph with Social Conserns on one axis and Economic Concerns on the other. As you move up one axis, the amount of government involvement increase. Draw the four Quadrants.

Libertarians would be in the quadrant closest to the origin (low government involvement in social or economic issues). Communist would be in the quadrant diagonal to this furthest away from the origin (high government involvement in social and econonmic issues). Conservatives and Liberals would be in the other two quadrants (liberals being low on social involvement and high on economic) and conservatives being the reverse of liberals.

where your suspicions correct?

Also just to clarify I wasn’t worried about being labeled, I just don’t like those labels as I believe they do more harm then good. Politics is more about who’s team is going to win, and less about making good policies. So I chose not to join a team.
