If it isn't cancelled before Season 4. I don't think that Berman and Braga have thought that far ahead, judging by the current episode and story arc.

Agreed, Admiral. I don't think Berman and Braga thought this through at all. Unfortunate especially since they are hellbent on making this all a Temporal thing. In order to write time travel stuff, you really should be thinking ahead. Sheesh. I thought that a fourth season was already agreed upon. I heard that the number of episodes per season fell to 24 for this and next season giving Enterprise 100 episodes after it's fourth season which is the bare minimum to sell the show into syndication. I hope that this is a coincidence and that Enterprise isn't cancelled at the end of the fourth season. On the other hand, if it doesn't improve, it shouldn't be on anymore. (Just my opinion). B}

And it's not looking good ....

The episode set to air tonight is on religous extremism. I have zero faith in B & B on THAT topic.

Not to kill it before it gets a chance, but didn't DS9 thouroughly cover the issues regarding religious extremism between the Bajorans, Cult of the Pah-Wraiths, and the religious structure of the Dominion I think this issue has been done. I realize this may be something different than anything in DS9, but DS9 often does it best. Just hope nobody is too disappointed with something so well done to compare it to.

***Warning Stargate Season 7, Episode Heroes Spoilers****

I didn’t want to start a new thread on this one episode, so I resurrected this one.

I watched Stargate's Heroes Part 2 this morning. While I knew beforehand that Dr. Fraiser was the one member of the SGC that would most likely be killed off, it was still a sad episode. I thought, “Yep it has to be her,” when I saw Dr. Fraiser running down the hall of the SGC headed for the Stargate to administer medical care to the wounded on P3X-666. However, I enjoyed very much the suspense of not being told until almost the end that Dr. Frazier indeed was the person killed…and not Colonial O’Neill. :o :D

The firefight with the Jaffa and the battle scene on P3X-666 was fairly well directed (from a non-military perspective). The emotion displayed by the soldier who thought he was going to die, and wanted to tell his wife that he loved her, was very moving. Especially when you watched it via Jackson’s tape later on. The Alkesh glider looked a little bulky (bordering on fake) flying through the air though. This makes me think that CGI (except for the plasma bombs) wasn’t used with the glider. It could have actually been a model. Which if it was, I am impressed that they chose to use a model instead of CGI. But then again, it could have been really bad CGI. I liked the whole firefight none-the-less.

When they began this whole documentary style two-parter I didn’t know if it would turn out to be cheesy. I am glad it didn’t. I will miss the character of Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery). I couldn’t help shedding a few tears at her memorial service. However, I am happy that it wasn’t O’Neill, Carter, Jackson, Teal’C or Hammond.

It was also nice to see Robert Picardo again. He is a great actor and he plays the “bad guy/has a nefarious agenda” Woolsey from the NID pretty well.

To keep on topic of this thread…

The difference between this episode and any episode of Enterprise is that I had a stronger emotional investment. I cared that a member of the SGC was killed. Even if that character did not have as large of a role as the main 5. This is a testament to good character development, good story-telling and great acting.

The same can rarely be said about Enterprise. When it was insinuated that Trip was going to be killed off on Similitude, I thought at the time, the show will never survive cancellation if they kill off the one guy that carries the show the most (in terms of character development, affability, command presence). In spite of Trip's contribution to the show, I didn't care to the same extent if he were killed off (I thought big deal this series appears to be going down the tubes anyway  ). It was a little sad when Sim died though. They need to bring Sim back to do an episode with Phlox and Porthos. Those 3 seem to draw the most attention. :P

I have already mentioned a whole host of other differences between the two series throughout this thread so I won't repeat them. :D

I think people are too hard on Enterprise. It is only new and I'm sure it will pick up. I enjoy it. Star gate is good but it has its low points too. I don't know what season we are on over here in sunny Britain but it has definatly improved with age. There was an episode I saw the other day that I thought was silly. It was called something like revelation and it wqas were General Hammond told Britain, Russia and China about the Stargate. There was another guy a senator I think and he was criticising the SG command. That would never happen, the USA government would never let any one present such a divided front in such a delicate negotiation.

However I definatly enjoy Stat Gate. The Goua'ld are a fabulous enemy.

Don't give up on Enterprise!

24, after seeing last week's episode and reading about the impending death on this week's program, I was prepared. Had the tissues out and the chocolate ready ....

And my electricity went out 15 minutes before the show started.... :o

I did get to catch the last 30 minutes and then watched it again at 11 p.m., but didn't have time to reprogram my VCR correctly. I would have loved to replay the scene where Daniel told the Picardo character off ....

^^Stargate threads have been popping up over at startrek.com, and the word is that Don Davis (Hammond) is also not coming back for the 8th Season. In addition, Anderson supposedly wants to scale back his time on the show as well.

Who know's what this last season will be like. I am looking around for more confirmation about the cast line up for next season. This has been a really great season. I would hate for the series to go downhill before the series ended...probably with Season 8.

*SPOILERS*

According to the previews I've seen:

Have you heard about the new Stargate Series "Atlantis", 24?

They will be running two series next year and I do believe it will be the last for the original Stargate. Anderson was on the reduced schedule this year and does plan the same next. Some times it worked brilliantly - like the episode with the young clone - but other times he definitely was missed. (Given the death of the other character, I thought he should have been more prominent in the 2nd part.) There is some talk he will get promoted and take Hammond's place next year - although occasionally going on missions. Then they wouldn't be struggling every episode to get him out of the way plausibly.

He, Tapping, Shanks, and Judge have signed on for next year for sure.

Actually, I only heard about Atlantis not too long ago. I have no idea what the series will be about. I think I will go peruse the Sci-Fi website after while and see what I can find out.

I am glad that 4 out of the main 5 are coming back for sure next season. If they do next season like this season, with Anderson's reduced schedule, then it should work out fine. I would hate to see Davis (Hammond) leave the show though. :( Again, at least it isn't one of the other actors. :D

It also does not take itself too seriously.

You got that right. I love SG1 for the humor. The show manages to mix action, drama and suspense with humor on the light side.

A good axample of this is the recent episode Chimera when Carter is so happy about her relationship she starts humming. The song? The theme to the series! It was totaly great. I don't think Trek could come anywhere near that!

Don't give up on Enterprise!

That's the problem, DCS, Enterprise is NOT new!

It is the FIFTH Star Trek series since 1966 (sixth if you count the animated adventures). It is in its third season with over sixty episodes aired. If it hasn't picked up by now, then when will it? Ratings are abysmal and plots are formulaic.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE AS TO WHY ENTERPRISE IS THIS BAD!

As for the Stargate episode you mention, I disagree. I can think of several senators who would criticize such a program because it furthered their own personal agenda. Yes, our government unfortunately WOULD let someone like that into a delicate negotiation. It has been going on for years, when politicians put their own gain over the good of the country. Why would these politicians get into such a delicate position? 1) Seniority. Such a person would be in Congress long enough to obtain a leadership position, which means they have amassed a lot of personal power. 2) Position in the party. This usually happens with Democrats, but I can think of a few Republicans who have done this. If you are the minority chair on a senatorial subcommittee, you can be actively involved in anything, and then cloak yourself in the mantle of elder statesmanship. Disgusting, but true.

Gosh, didn't mean to make you so angry Admiral! I'm not as far along as you are on Enterprise as we are only on seris two over here and I haven't bought the videos. I guess we will have to agree to disagree :)

You seem to know a lot about politics, have you studied it before? I only ask because I am studying it at the moment and it is really valuable to get other peoples perspectives.

You didn't make me angry, DCS... I"m just a bit fed up with the Trek series and tha path it chose (downhill). Enterprise is nothing like it was promised to be, and I don't see that changing.

I was trying to make a bold-face statement, not yell out loud (which is why I didn't use the icons).

I only studied political science as part (a small part) of my History minor. My major was Electrical Engineering. Politics is a hobby, and I'm a voracious reader. I'm funny that way. I also worked on political campaigns as a teen back in the 70s and to a small extent in 2002.
