Bill - it's been airing here for at least 6 years and they have their own hyperspace drive capable ship now , as well as space capable fighters as well now.
We've seen all the episodes listed here SG1 site - really classy site by the way - but lots of overhead downloads.

Proton is right - current series was stopped (temporarily) recently - I think the station substituted some crappy reality TV show - I am a bit miffed too - I am confident it'll be back shortly in new year.

Hornblower is back TONIGHT at 10:30pm (or 11pm) on ABC (not Sunday nights as has been expected from tradition) - I'm looking forward to seeing what exploits, adventures and troubles Horatio gets himself into this time round - long place VCR tape is ready - I'll have something good to what on those nights when TV is the pits.

Wicheta : does your better half know you fancy the colonel ?

Personally - I'm taken with Carter (she's a brainy and a spunk - I like that in a lady).

Did you that scene when Teal'c got hold of that really big canon from a downed "Glider" and did his Terminator thing - I think that it was really him .

Bill : Nice site.
I am pretty sure I've seen up to 7.9 - on free to TV (just before Xmas I think).

I don't subscribe to satellite or cable TV - I'm way too stingey and refuse to pay for something I can get for free by waiting - so I don't know what episode in series 7 is the latest broadcast on Australian pay TV.

Getting pretty pissed off with the SEVEN (AND also NINE) network who keep putting crap on instead of Stargate SG1 (and Enterprise).... anyone know of a site where I can download episodes (or Enterprise and SG1) from (for free would be nice !!!!) as the local video renters don't have them for rent anymore and I am sick of waiting. (The uni has a very fast and very large bandwidth optical network on campus and downloading direct to burnable DVD media would be quick).

Dam-it , ABC reran Hornblower 1.1 tonight instead of the expected NEW Hornblower 3.1 - was enjoyable but I already have it on tape and I stayed home rather than going fishing specially to see the expected Hornblower 3.1 - MIFFED

OK, a new - at least to me - nitpick of Stargate vs. Enterprise ...

This week they ended the showing of Season 1 reruns and tonight will be the first episode of Season 2 on SciFi channel. (In addition to the first new episode of the second half of Season 7.)

They used three episodes to build suspense for the end of Season 1's cliffhanger. Yes, one was basically a "clip show" but it still moved the story along. Now, tonight, there will be the fourth episode to resolve the cliffhanger. (I actually saw the fourth show first a few weeks ago, but, had I not, I'm sure I would have eagerly looked forward to how they were going to save the Earth.)

Now, how does Enterprise handle their cliffhangers at season's end....

Season 1 - Shockwave Pt. 1 ....

The whole episode does sort of build up the end with the miners dying in an accident that shouldn't have happened. We find out the the miners should have never died. Archer is transported to the future which somehow causes the future to be devastated. Impressive last shot ...

Resolution to Shockwave Pt. 2...

Archer makes it back from the future.

Does that "fix" the devastation in the future? Did the act of his going cause the problem or the fact he was not in his own time frame cause the problem - which would be "fixed" by his going back to his own time? Eighteen months later, I still don't know.

The miners are apparently still dead although they weren't supposed to die in the first place. Apparently that's OK though.

Season 2 Cliffhanger ....

With no foretelling, a weapon from an alien we never heard of before comes to Earth and slices part of it open. We see no reaction from Earth to the probe or what it is doing. We later hear that 7 million people that we have never seen or heard of before have died.

We do hear, from people who we have no reason to believe, that the aliens did this because the Earth destroys their homeworld 400 years in the future. We know that they are from dangerous part of space - specifically dangerous to Vulcans - but the Enterprise goes there anyway - with a Vulcan - to find them and stop them from completely destroying Earth.

Resolution to Season 2 Cliffhanger ...

We found out that Earth can't destroy this alien's homeworld 400 years in the future because someone has already done so 150 years in the past. We found out that the area of space is very dangerous - especially to Vulcans - but there is something that can be used to protect the crew - except we can't use it because it's also dangerous to the one Vulcan who wasn't supposed to come along, but we brought along anyway.

So after 6 months, we don't know why the aliens want to destroy us and we are risking the future of earth by not taking steps to protect the one ship who's trying to stop them, because the material that could protect the ship from the ordinary dangers of the reason will also cause the Vulcan - who shouldn't have been brought along in the first place - to turn into a zombie.

She - who is still inexplicably (because we haven't been given a reason) second in command despite having no rank - does, however, give good massages and will take off her top at the drop of a hat.

Oh, so that's why the crew wanted to bring her along. Silly me -- I thought she was supposed to do something intelligent and scientific on this mission. What was I thinking????

OK, I went a littttllllllleeeee overboard to make the point. ;)

Enterprise just leaves to many major questions hanging for me. I can suspend disbelief for a Horta (still a very cool thing  ), but I can't buy that the crew would follow someone with no rank who most likely hasn't been that chummy with them in the past.

If they knew there was something that could protect them from the spatial anonomalies, but it wasn't being used because of her, I would think they would be even less happy with her.

Something Wicked This Fae Comes
Tonight I got another chance to see Stargate episode, Forever in a Day. What this episode reminded me is that SG-1 is more than a team…they are a family. In one episode of Stargate, the writer (Glassner) and the actors were able to bring across to the viewers (at least to me) the strong sense of family, friendship and loyalty that Teal’c, Jackson, Carter and O’Neill have for one another. Let’s not forget about Hammond…he is just as essential to the family (team). ;)

When I look at the strength of character, emotion, acting displayed from this mid Season 3 episode on Stargate, and compare it to the progress made by mid Season 3 Similitude…I am astonished that Enterprise has made it as far as it has without being cancelled. :o  Similitude was actually a decent episode. However, the character development before and after Similitude lacks in comparison.

Then there is the friendship that is between Daniel and Teal’c. It is a special friendship (much like brothers), based on a common respect and appreciation for culture and ritual. The understanding that passed between the two men when Daniel said, “Teal’c you did the right thing” was immense. It was an understanding and a step toward forgiveness for Teal’c having to kill his wife to save Daniel’s life.

This familial sentiment could not have been expressed any better than when Jackson’s Good Father Kasuf said, “Colonel O’Neill informs me that you plan on leaving his tribe.”

I also really liked the costumes in this episode. The tribal robes worn at Sha’re’s funeral were understated and had an authentic feel about them.

The colors are always brilliant. The splash of purple flowers on the last world SG-1 went to (before Daniel went back through the Stargate to the planet his wife was killed), were absolutely beautiful.

Great episode!!

P.S. Just read the preview for this week’s new Enterprise episode Chosen Realm. Enterprise gets boarded (no hijacked) again by the bad guys?

I don't understand how the writers of this show still have a job. This whole season is about to be aborted, given the cryptic message from Daniels that the whole Xindi thing never should've happened. I hope it is simply forgotten so in season 4 they can actually get around to the founding of the Federation and the preceding Romulan War. :woohoo:
