Two more days till the first episode of the season (or series as the Brits call it). Is anyone excited? Personally I am somewhat looking forward to it, but am not as excited as a true Star Trek fan should be. This season is going to be thier last chance. There were a couple of really good episodes last year, but most were forgettable. I hope the number of good episodes increases this year. |

Min…I am so excited I just can’t think straight.
Like you, I am not excited in the way I should be, but I am looking forward to seeing what changes (if any) B&B have made for Season 3. I just rewatched Regeneration last night. I had taped it from a week or two ago and just now got to it (how sad that it took me almost two weeks to get in the mood to watch it…this would have never happened with a TNG, DS9 or VOY episode). Regeneration wasn’t as bad as I thought. The first time I only "sort of" (I was distracted by my displeasure) watched it in its original run. I think when B&B first introduced the Borg on this series, I was so up in arms thinking B&B had totally disregarded continuity, I didn’t stop to examine the show in its entirety. Now, I guess I am more at ease that continuity wasn’t totally thrown out the window with this particular episode. So we will see. All I can say now, is “B&B please don’t fail us now!”

I only watch two things on TV these days, news and Enterprise. So, yes, I'm really looking forward to it. But I do wish they would stop using sex as an attempt to attract viewers and they do need to improve the stories. I think there is a very good chance that the new season will be improved enough to at least be enjoyable for what it is. It may never completely satisfy those of us who think they ought to be showing the formation of the UFP though. |

I'm not especially looking forward to it. I know I'm sounding like a cynic, but I just think Season 3 will be a case of SSDS (same s***, different season). I do hope I'm wrong, but history is on my side. |

By now I am usually excited for the season premiere but not this time. Heck, maybe ENT is really as bad as I thought. I might just watch the first month and if I don't like what I'm seeing, there is always DS9 season 5. |

I await the show with great trepidation. Actually, I won't see it here until Saturday Evening, it airs on the WB affiliate here. Since I boycotted all of last season, I really hope the story telling has improved. All in good fun ANOVA |

Givent that this is primarily a Star Trek message board, the responses so far are NOT a good sign.
When they announced they were going to "arc" storytelling, I actually was a bit hopeful. One of my complaints about this series is that they don't seem to remember what they have said from week to week. Consequences of actions seldom are even mentioned in the same episode and even more rarely in later episodes. So far, the previews of the episodes already filmed do appear to me more of the same from past seasons. I got tired of characters "exploring their humanity" long before Voyager ended. I certainly am not looking forward to more of the same this year. |

Well, we are going into a conflict/war story arc, and that should make for some dramatic storytelling. Action and drama can be very entertaining. There will no doubt be some suspensful episodes coming out of this. Kind of reminds me of the Dominion War story arc in DS9. Gotta admit, that didn't do much for my liking of DS9 (though I did like the series as a whole, so please don't jump down my throat about being a DS9 hater -- I'm really not!). It's just that I am a Libra and would prefer to make peace rather than war. Guess that's why I'm not tittering with excitement. I'd rather see new discoveries of strange worlds than seeing new species getting blown up. I shall hang on to the hope that Archer will develop diplomatic skills and negotiate a less destructive way out of this Xindi problem. Actually, I'm also hoping that some future episode will revisit the Vissian species (the one from "Cogenitor"). I think it'd be really interesting to see how the Enterprise's contact with them affected their culture, see if it made anybody re-think how they treated the cogenitors, or see if an equal-rights movement has started on their homeworld. So many possibilities left over from that one episode! |

I have hopes for this season too and one of those is that we start getting back to the essence of Star Trek... and I would like to see some tightening between Enterprise and previous series. I for one would like to see the Planet Killer for TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine" make an appearance as this "ultimate weapon" the Xindi are supposed to be developing. That would be a nice tie-in with what has come before... and for everyone who will shout this down saying "but Starfleet didn't know about the Planet Killer when it appeared", well maybe Archer and Enterprise never ACTUALLY encounter this weapon and it gets launched without their knowledge. Thats possible. Anyway... looking forward to it... see if B & B can turn this wreck around and make up for the mistakes they ahve made in the past. |

I admire your optimism, Snooge. I wish I could be as optimistic. I actually cleared my schedule so I could watch it. Rather than cook dinner, I'm ordering in a pizza. I'll make sure my son's homework is done before I let him sit down (he's not the rabid Trek fan like me, but still enjoys TOS and DS9) in front of the tube. We'll see what happens... |

If you think thats bad... ...I am three days from being unemployed ( my current contract is completed... successfully I might add ) and have to hit the job search streets again... ...a girl I was seeing moved 5 hours away... ...I am nearly flat broke on my face with no groceries to speak of... ...and if I don't find a job soon I will have to move out of my place and back with the parents ( GAH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ) So honestly, the season premiere of ENTERPRISE is all I have to look forward to this week so I have to be optimistic to keep myself from going insane. |
