Apparently we look like this now

I've started watching them on Netflix. Red Dwarf was really funny to start with, but it got stale into the second season. I kind of got bored with it. However, I'm hooked on the Dr Who that started in 2005. I think I'll watch the classic once I'm done with this one. Does Red Dwarf get better? |

Personally, I love Red Drawf up through about season 6 or so. The kicker is that in many ways many comedies follow in a similar vein now with "unlovable" leads. Characters that are less than stellar examples of humanity. This was much rarer than when Red Dwarf first ran. Still, stick with it and you will find some real fun episodes, especially when they bring in Kryten. |

I used to love to watch Red Dwarf on Saturday nights. Kryten was an hilarious character. |

Yeah, one scene I remember was when he attached the vacuum clean hose to his crotch.

I've never seen a single episode of Dr. Who or Red Dwarf. Out of the two of those, which one is recommended most? |

PattyCakes, Red Dwarf is one of the best sit-coms going, but it is really a sit-com where the situation happens to be sci-fi. Dr Who is proper sci-fi. So they aren't really comparable. As to Red Dwarf - yes it does get better once Kryten comes along. Some great, memorable episodes. Dwayne Dibley! The very late seasons then got a bit hit and miss again, although I can report that the very latest series which came out this year was excellent IMO. |

I've met Kryten, and it did get better. I guess I kind of got bored because it mostly takes place in Lister's quarters. |

There are just so many really good episodes. It gets broader once the give Rimmer the "light bee" which enables him to leave the ship (they did this long before VOY's EMH character came along, too!). The adventure on the Wax World is hilarious. |
