Ron Howard Still Looking to Bring Stephen King's "Dark Tower" to the Big Screen

Universal was only willing to commit to a single film. However Howard and production partner Brian Grazer are apparently close to making a deal with Warner Bros. In the past they have talked about to films combined with a limited run (apparently two seasons worth) of television episodes.

With seven books in the series this would be a Herculean effort to pull off. Especially given the depth and breadth of the story. It was done, and done well, with Harry Potter (also a WB production), but I don't think that King's story is nearly as accessible as the Potter series. It is likely to be PG-13 to R just in language alone. Personally, I would love to see them attempt it but it is a very big risk.
