Admiral, Back in the 1950s (before the advent of the AFL and before the Boston Patriots existed as a franchise), we lived in Massachusetts. My father used to follow the New York 'football' Giants. He would frequently mention Y. A. Tittle, Frank Gifford (et al.) and that team to me when I was a child. Then when the Boston Patriots came into being and were a part of the AFL, he (and through him, me) became fans of that team. I've been a fan of the Patriots since about 1967 (around the time of the first Super Bowl). I loved watching as many AFL games as I could in the late 1960s. Some of my most cherished football memories involved the Gino Capelletti, Houston Antwine (who recently passed away, incidentally), Babe Parilli, Jim Hunt, and Jim Nance Patriots teams of the 1960s. I also followed Mike Taliaferro when he QB'd the Patriots back then, pretending I was him in the back yard while playing football with my neighbors. One of my other favorite teams was the Oakland Raiders, and I loved watching the Len Dawson-led Kansas City Chiefs playing the Raiders each year. The 'Mad Bomber' (Daryl Lamonica) and Fred Biletnikoff were a joy for me to watch back in the day. I used to have jerseys with the numbers of Patriots and Raiders players, and I wore them with pride! You might enjoy this link. I've written to the man who put it together. He told me that the old AFL footballs come up for sale every now and then. He said that they often go for ... $500-600 a ball! There is some information on the Dallas Texans (as well as all of the AFL teams) that you might find interesting as well. http://www.remembertheafl.com/AFL.htm Edited by Fesarius, Feb 29 2012, 09:50 AM.
