I'm buying the seasons. I wish I had done that with BSG because even though I've seen them all, I still need to buy the series. So far, I'm up to disk 2 of season 2. I like it, but its no BSG. (Nothing can touch BSG)

So far, there have only been a couple episodes that I didnt like. Politics is one. (the rehash episode.) But, I loved the swipe at Independence Day.."What are we going to do, upload a virus to the ship?" I busted a gut when I heard that line. I've noticed several jabs at various movies and other things. O'neil: Think they get Showtime?

Character analysis:

Oneil, I like him. Started off kind of bland, but he seems to be owning the role.

Jackson: A little annoying, but he's supposed to be.

Both characters are pretty much in canon with the movie characters.

Carter: They havent really mastered her yet. Right now, she seems like a mix of Jackson and Tasha Yar on ST:TNG.

Teal'C: Probably my favorite character so far...Not sure why.

Hammond: Pushover teddybear. Still a cool character though.

Looks like I'll have my hands full with this series for a while. I never knew it ran 10 seasons.

I love Stargate. Yes, I agree the episodes with the political characters involved can tend to be boring but overall the series is a lot of fun. I think what I liked about the series is that, like Star Trek, they knew when to throw in a bit of fun and not get too full of themselves. I don't like when things are too dark and serious on an ongoing basis.

Watch for some fun Star Trek references throughout the series as well, there is one episode in particular that is pretty much a tribute to Star Trek - with a trekkie guest star. That's all I will say so as not to give much away.

I'm Captain Kirk!
Stargate SG-1 is a great series! Minuet recommended it to me and I loved it. You should be able to pick up the season sets really cheap now ($15 - $20). Check Walmart. They usually have it on the shelves.

I've found them for $15.99 each for 1 and 2. Havent seen any Trek references yet that I can recall...But I'm sure they have been there. There have been alot of things that werent necessarily Trek references, but reminded me of Star Trek in one way or another. One gripe though, seasons 1 and 2 dont have closed captioning. But, the later seasons probably have it. I've seen that the later seasons, the artwork on the boxes is very different, so maybe they changed the entire format all together.

I'm glad to finally see Teal'C finally get his family back, all though he had to go through the ringer to get them. They are really putting Jackson through the ringer for getting his wife back though.

Wichita is a big fan of the series too. If you remember back to when this forum started she had a picture of Richard Dean Anderson as her avatar.

Done with Season 2. Gotta get season 3. But is there a damn flashback episode in every season? I mean the season 2 finale was a flashback with a cliffhanger! Without the flashbacks, the episode is only 20 minutes long!

Also, season 2 had (with the exception of the Politics flashback episode in season 1) my least favorite episodes so far:

Spirits (the one with the Indians)
One False Step (the one with the fainting aliens)

I'm not losing interest, I mean there are still 8 seasons to go but I just found it strange that with all the good episodes, there would be 2 bad ones.
