Mets are still hovering around the .500 mark...for a team mostly made up of AAA players now, you can't ask for or expect much more. If anything, it's better than expected. And maybe Reyes' banner year so far might convince the Wilpons to make him an offer.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WINS 5-1

So the National League won the All-Star game tonight thanks to Prince Fielder's mammoth 3-run HR off of CJ Wilson. And Andre Ethier and Kung Fu Panda Pablo Sandoval RBI's in the 5th and 7th innings.

The sole run for the American belonged Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez was a HR hit off of Cliff Lee in the 4th.

The National League will get home field advantage in the 2011 World Series.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

The Mets traded K-Rod for 2 players to be named. I'm going to miss seeing him, he was one of my favorite Mets besides David Wright. :(

The Astros continue to have the worst record in major league baseball. The official theme song for the Astros is now the sad trombone.

I for one am glad K-Rod is gone...yes, he had 23 saves and only 3 officially blown opportunities, but of those 23 saves, he made at least 15 a source of agita. He could come in with a three run lead, you'd expect him to slam the door, and next thing you know there's runners on first and second with nobody out. They were even talking about it on the radio a few days ago, the last "sure thing" closers the Mets had were Tug McGraw and later Jesse Orosco.

I know there's talk about Beltran being traded as well, I only hope that these salary-dumping moves are chiefly to clear up some cash to re-sign Jose Reyes. For fielding a mostly AAA team at the moment, the Mets haven't been embarrassing themselves, they've won more series than they've lost of late. This weekend will be a test against the Phillies.

And the good news? David Wright has a scheduled rehab start with the Port St. Lucie Mets (A) tonight. :omg:

As of today (August 8th, 2011) the Houston Astros are 37-77. That's right, 40 games below .500. They're on a pace to lose 110 games this year.

I believe the sad trombone sound has been replaced by the sound of someone sitting on a whoopie cushion.

It seems no matter how many times the Baseball Gods smite the New York Mets, they still manage to hover around the .500 mark...one can only wonder just what the team would have done this year if they were firing on all cylinders at once.

Now that most of the Buffalo roster is playing at Citi Field, will they start drawing off of Binghamton next?

Jeter gets 3000 hits...

Rivera gets his 602nd Save...

And Posada gets the GWRBI last night to help the Yankees clinch the AL East.

So, does that mean we see Pettitte throwing out the first pitch instead of Yogi at the first game of the ALDS?

I was wrong. The Astros only lost 106 games this year...

It could get worse...the Astros may find themselves in the American League as soon as next season...

:scared:

And David Ortiz said yesterday that he'd listen if the Yankees made him an offer...a genuine sentiment, or a ploy to get more money out of the Sox?

Same here. I like that the National League has more teams than the American.

How does anyone feel about the idea of another Wild Card spot being added to the post season?

I don't like the second Wild Card at all.

Good news though, Frank McCourt has finally agreed to sell the Dodgers. Maybe Fred Wilpon will sell the Mets and buy the team he truly loves...

Baseball Season has ended again.

Are the Astros in such bad shape that they want to move them to the American League? Isn't that where they make that Canadian team play?
