Other as in "dumb". That entire tirade and then at the bottom of the ad you have little signs that say "shop men's" AND "shop women's". How many women are going to click (I assume it is a web ad) after reading all that manly stuff. Just plain dumb. |

They wouldn't have written all of that if there weren't some grain of truth in it with which to resonate with their potential customers, but they do exagerate a bit. I do see a problem with men completely dropping the ball on fatherhood these days. And men driving Miatas, what's up with that? And the only thing that a man should be ordering from Starbucks when his wife drags him there is black coffee. There is a woman with whom I work who is 8 months pregnant. She came into a conference room in which we were having a meeting and every chair was full. Only one man got out of his seat and gave it to the pregnant woman (me) while the rest of the guys just sat there. What's up with that? I would be absolutely ashamed to sit there in a meeting while a pregnant woman had to stand. I was also the only man in the room from the South. |

"Only one man got out of his seat and gave it to the pregnant woman (me) while the rest of the guys just sat there. What's up with that?" Hoss, In this day and age, I'm surprised you weren't carted off to prison for being so politically incorrect. At the very least, one should get life imprisonment for offering a woman (pregnant or not) his seat, and fifteen to twenty years for holding any door for her. I'm ashamed of you, and I hope that you will come to your senses very soon. |

I did get a reprimand from HR and a "don't let it happen again". Just kidding. I was just kind of shocked. Every male butt in that room should have been up until the pregant woman had a place to sit. I have seen something similar at church where I am an usher some times. Some older person with a walker will be trying to get to a seat and I have to go ask people to scoot (the hell) over for them so that the older person doesn't have to climb past them. Gee whiz! Basic politeness seems to have gone out of fashion among many people. And I think that you kind of mostly pick up politeness from your father, so I think that fathers are dropping the ball. As long as I am telling boring stories, my grandparents sponsored some Vietnamese refugees after the war so that they could get out of Vietnam and move here. They would have been terribly persecuted in Vietnam as they supported the South. Anyway, I remember going to my grandparents house when I was about 18 years old and one of these families was visiting. As soon as I walked in, the father was on his boys to stand up and be respectful. We just seem to have forgotten something that this man understood so well. |

"Basic politeness seems to have gone out of fashion among many people. And I think that you kind of mostly pick up politeness from your father, so I think that fathers are dropping the ball." Hoss, It has gone out of fashion for many. My wife and I insist on "Yes sir" and "Yes m'am" when they are speaking to any adult. And we never allow our children to call any adult by their first name. It's interesting how many adults try to circumvent this show of respect, but we tell our children that they still need to call adults "Mr.", "Mrs.", or "Ms." We also don't allow our boys to wear their hat in a building. When they walk in a building, they take it off. There are many other forms of politeness and manners that we insist upon as well. |

Maybe one day society won't find it necessary to define a woman by whether or not she is married. |

I liked the ad, but don't plan to buy Dockers anytime soon... even though I'm wearing a pair right now. |
