I thought it might be fun and useful to list our top ten favourite websites. I'd love to see what websites you rate! This doesn't have to be the websites that you visit most regularly but rather the ones that you enjoy most. It would be good if you could provide links and a brief explanation of why you like it. 1. The BBC website I love this website because I can use it to catch up on the news, the weather and because it links to the BBC iplayer which I use to catch up on news and radio. 2. Ravelry This is an online knitting and cross stitching community. It has a great mix of groups about knitting and other random things. It's got a great community feel and is a fantastic resource for a beginner like me. 3. Last FM This is a really new one for me, just this afternoon in fact, but I think it's a great idea. You type in the name of an artist you like and it comes up with suggestions of others that you might like and allows you to listen to sample tracks. I've found it useful as I'm in a rut musically at the moment and it has already led me to some artists I have not heard of before but want to try. 4. Times Online I read most of the broadsheet newspaper websites but this is my favourite by far. It has the best content and the website is clean looking, uncomplicated and easy to navigate. 5. icanhazcheezeburger? The official lol cats website this fun and trivial site keeps me giggling every day. 6. Facebook Whilst I'm a recent convert to Twitter I still get a lot of fun out of Facebook. I find it very useful for keeping tabs on my friends. 7. Shapely Prose This blog is one of the leading lights of the shape acceptance movement. I love how it challenges the main stream media whilst remaining light hearted and full of common sense. 8. Twitter I love being able to see what Stephen Fry and Will Wheaton are up to these days. 9. The Buddhist Channel To my knowledge this is the best source of news for Buddhists. It keeps me up to date on lesser reported world affairs too. 10. Weebl's stuff The home of some very silly and occasionally rude cartoons. Edited by Data's Cat's Sister, Feb 9 2009, 12:21 PM.

The problem I have with Facebook right now, is that each week a different friend is getting a tattoo. I don't know what the fascination is with them lately... honestly. Seems like they want a tattoo so that they can be cool and post the pictures on Facebook. One had a huge tattoo of Tinkerbell on the back of her leg. Another one of my friends just got a huge one of horses on her upper arm. Everyone fawns over the pictures saying, Oooh I love it! I'm like, really? I think they're ugly! Of course I don't really answer that, but I wish I could...lol Oh and of course there's the girl who had wings done on both shoulder blades... No offense to people who like tattoos...but I find most of them distasteful..(most not all) |

Sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing where I spend most of my online time. I can however name Facebook, here, Gmail, my own board, theweathernetwork.com, and a few other online communities that I prefer remain separate from here. |

For me, my favorite websites do not have blog, facebook nor other visual dependent elements. I prefer the "old school" style of websites where I can browse with ease. My list include:Digifan's Web World (Naturally ) currently under construction. Its grand presentation should be online shortly. The new Brass Lounge Forum. (Coming soon.) Sister Trek. Surprise? Star Trek. Battlestar Galactica. My ISP's home page. Amazon, Best Buy, and SPACE, the Imagination Station. That's all I can think of for now. |
