How about a Voyager Movie
Sorry but I couldn't resist this one.

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3649837,00.html

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed support for the ground operation in Gaza. After meeting with the Israeli consul general in Los Angeles, Yaakov Dayan, Schwarzenegger declared that "every nation has the right to defend itself against terrorism and cold-blooded attacks on its people. Israel is no different and is right to defend itself against the unceasing violence of rocket attacks launched by Hamas."

It seems to me the Governator has bigger things to worry about:

California should have a right to defent their borders from Illegal entry of human beings and drugs from Mexico. :news:

The people of the State of California should have a Government that cuts spending and lives on a BUDGET. Nah screw it, tax their pets or Luxery's or whatever they are trying.
No even better, how about tax their plastic surgery? :rotfl: Iffin you wants a new set of "girls" isn't that a luxery?
Tax all flights to Cuba and Venezuela from LA.X.
Sean Pennsky will happily pay it.

Arnold shound pay a POSER Tax for running as a Republican.

Didn't he have a Prop 8 flip flop too? :headscratch:

No matter, the laws of Karma or the Laws of whatever you believe in are going to dust California with serious Geological Action.
San Francisco will suffer the most Loss.

I did spend two weeks in California in 2004 in Long Beach, Malibu, Hollywood, Burbank and Buena Park. These areas are in a Depravity of cyclical Dryness. This is why fires and mudslides ravage the areas.

I saw Christopher Lloyd on TV, the actor who played Doc Brown in Back to the Future. He Lost his home and the treasures he had in it. Really sad.

The point I am trying to make is that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger may be as pathetic a TOOL as Jessie Ventura was in Minnesota. :news: Shut up Arnold.

Isn't he making huge cuts in the state government rather than raising taxes?

I know this thread is really meant more to be about California, but I just wanted to pipe in with some comments about Israel.

Basically I want to note how nice it is for a change to see Israel actually getting a bit of support from the world community. Not from all corners, but seemingly more then in the past. Israel's right to defend itself is finally getting noted and that is important. If Schwarzenegger wants to lend his verbal support then more power to him, Israel needs all the help it can get.

This isn't a time to be pro-Israel or pro-Palestine; it is a time to be anti-Hamas.

The transparency of their goals and aims is startling and simplistically obvious.

I feel sorry for the Palestinians and Gaza residents caught in the crossfire of all this, but there is only one way to solve this.

I'll stop here.

I too feel sorry for those caught in the crossfire. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for Israel.

Hamas' habit of hiding behind civilians is abhorrent.

Here's my take on it, as told by another...

Anyway, as all of these talking heads blather on, wondering why things are the way they are in the region, I’m reminded of an old thought experiment a friend brought to my attention some years ago.

In the first scenario, Palestine dumps all its weapons into the ocean. What happens? Peace! The wall (which so many people love to complain about) comes down. There is no retaliation for acts of terrorism on Israel’s side, because there’s no more terrorism. No more women and children die because there are no more rockets to both hide and fire amongst the civilian population. The “humanitarian disaster” ends in Gaza.

In the second scenario, Israel dumps all its weapons into the ocean…………

It’s a useful exercise in terms of recognizing who the troublemakers really are, who resists peace, and who keeps the cycle of hatred and violence spinning.

My pro-Israeli stance has nothing to do with religion (as is the case for some Christians) and everything to do with good ‘ole fashioned common sense, coupled with a sense of justice.

I have always been on the side of Israel.

IMO, your take on it is indisputably accurate.

The residents of Gaza elected Hamas in a landslide knowing this would be the result. It's hard to feel sorry for them.

To paraphrase the words of Hamas leaders themselves, true muslims cannot allow Israel to exist. The only reason for any peace fire is to prepare for the next battle.

I've heard it said that Muslims can't have peace with infidels. Does that extend to the rest of the world?

They are allowed truces under the Koran. Interesting that Hamas never pursued that route. Yes, they are rather transparent.

I get it ... because without infidels they'd fight amongst themselves.

Apparently Nizar Rayan was reading a different Koran.

Is your comment really necessary?

Your comment could be considered as being a bigoted statement. It doesn't add anything to the conversation.

In the future, let's keep those types of comments to ourself and out of our discussions.

My apologies. I admit I misread his comment. I'm used to seeing it written as "Muslims can't have peace without infidels."

I'm not sure, but I think it harkens back to the early days of Arafat who united the Palestinians against Israel. Leaders must have an enemy or they'd have no power.

Can reality and history be bigoted? Have the different sects of Islam not been brutal to each other in the absence of infidels?

The world community judges all of us by our newsmakers and leaders. For example, only a handful of us support President Bush but there he is representing all of us to the world.

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
I think that you are mistaking power-hungry dictators for muslims in general. Yes, thugs like Arafat, Nasser, etc. need to villify and scapegoat others so that their populace overlooks or tolerates them. Pretty old trick.

Probably works to a lesser degree in the West. We have had runnaway irresponsible spending and stupid business policy and regulation while diverted by fighting terrorism. I am not saying that we shouldn't fight terrorists, but we also need sound domestic policy, which we have not had since Newt Gingrich ran the House.
