^^^ Or maybe you just take offense to the observation.

If I had the money, I certainly would commission a study to determine the validity of my observations. That being said, do you even get what I compared my little law to? Godwin's Law. Now do you think there is any proof to that? No, not really. It's just based on general observations.

^^^ Or maybe you just take offense to the observation.
If that is the only argument you can make, it certainly speaks to the validity of your law.

^^^ Since you ignored everything else I posted in that reply about Godwin's Law, I can only conclude you genuinely are not seeing or will not see the obvious tongue firmly placed in cheek nature of Kevin's Law, and since my law is modelled after Godwin's, you blatantly ignore the fact it only speaks to probabilities, not actualities.

Soooo.... In other words, lighten up, quit feeling offended, and let's chat about the seeming stupidity of these supposedly well educated people I spoke about at the start, who got America into this financial mess.

It's not that the person with a doctorate couldn't, for example, change the oil in his car by himself, it's that he has never needed to.
It is residuals to assume that. The person with a doctorate didn’t get his doctorate till his mid to late 20s. assuming he had been driving since the age of 16 that’s 10 or more years of car use before the doctorate. Not knowing the individuals background you can not assume he has always had the means to have someone change his oil before he got his doctorate.

Since you already admit that “It's not that the person with a doctorate couldn't,..” than it is ridiculous to assume that because he has his doctorate that he cant…
Thank you for providing a great example of someone very intelligent making a simple idea unnecessarily difficult. Well done!

I'm not into qualifying everything to the meet the standards required in a debate. If someone were to ask me what color the sky is, I would simply answer that it is blue. I would not ask him to specify which planet he was asking about and if he meant during the day or night.

Sounds to me like some people who may not have had educational opportunities might be a wee bit jealous of those who have so they need to find a way to make themselves feel superior.

Can we call that Minuet's Law? ;)

PS - the commonsense thing to do when something is meant to be tongue in cheek is to place it in Ten Forward, not politics where it is sure to be taken seriously.

Then why didn't you post "Minuet's Law" in Ten Forward? You're not committing the same error that you're commenting about, are you? :o

By the way, I think there's already an unofficial "law" of human behavior named in your honor. ;)

Here's a radical thought.

How about - we use neither our education backgrounds, nor lack of them, in developing and adding weight to our arguments. Rather, that we discuss the issues at hand using evidence, theory etc.

No, you may not call this STC's law, I'm sure it predates me ;)

I think we all need to mellow out a little. After all it's the holiday season.
